~2 years later~
~Kendra’s POV~
I parked and got out of my car and so did my parents. “Thank you so much for supporting me.” I smiled.
“We’re very proud of you, hun,” mom beamed at me but wiped away a teardrop with the back of her hand. “It’s amazing to us how much you’ve grown and finally you’re going to university.”
“But remember, be careful with boys. I’m a false representation of men.” Dad joked.
They gave me a pat in encouragement as I took my luggage and marched into Cardiff Arts University of Wales. (Disclaimer: this is a made up name.)
“Hi, may I help you?” The reception lady gave me a friendly smile. I was relieved to see someone welcoming me.
“My name is Kendra Bourne. Could you help me with the admin process? Like where my dorm room is, and my class timetable.” I said, and smiled back at the receptionist, though my grin was more of a nervous one.
“Sure!” She said. I gave her my documents and other stuff and she handed me my schedule as well as the map of the campus.
“You’re set, Miss Bourne,have a nice day!”
~ An hour later ~
I hauled my bags into my dorm room but I hadn’t picked a bed yet. I thought I ought to wait for my roommate. The room was actually much larger than I had expected. The hygiene conditions were great. Everything was clean and fresh and smelling of lavender. I could really get used to this.
I sat on the chair next to the coffee table and stared out of the window. I hoped my roommate would be nice and approachable. Otherwise it would suck to be in the same room as her for the whole course of university, even though it’s just two years for me. Yes, two. Originally it’s four, but my parents and the school advisory board had talkedand decided that since I did have a gift with fashion design, my major, and the authorities viewed my drafts and ideas and decided that my course can be condensed into two years instead. However in return I would have to seek job experience whilst taking lessons during these two years.
Now I was on my own. I was 18 and had to deal with whatever happened to me. Shivers were sent down my spine so I decided, to clear my mind, to look at my schedule and other regulations. My schedule was rather hectic and I just hope that it wouldn’t clash with my work schedule. Oh this was going to be a rather busy two years.
Another memo was attached and at the bottom of the page I found the names of my professors, lecturers, councilors, et cetera but one that astounded me was the name of my roommate: Kirrily Sheridan.
Kirrily Sheridan could not have been a more familiar name to me. A wave of delight rushed through me as I bounced around in my room, enthralled that my childhood bestie was going to be my uni roomie! We were best friends since elementary school in our hometown in Mullingar, Ireland, but 2 years ago she moved here to Cardiff, so it’s no surprise that she’s attending this university. We did keep in touch but as we both had to handle our uni applications, we became extremely busy and I didn’t realize till now that we hadn’t talked or met up or hung out since forever. I felt bad about it; I was awful as a friend. But still, I couldn't wait to see her brown hair and crazy attitude again.
“Sit down, ya sly thing. Why didn’t you tell me earlier that we were attending the same university?!” A voice loomed into the room. Unmistakably, Kirrily’s of course!
“Holy fudge cakes it really is you!” I squealed as we hugged each other tightly in reunion.
“Why, yes, it’s me, a fudge cake. Am I that fat? Those gym sessions aren't really paying off are they aye?!"Kirrily raised an eyebrow.
