"You!"
Furious at the Yiga's appearance, you snatched the sword from his hand and pointed it at him.
"How dare you show your face here again! After what you did to me."
You rolled up your sleeves to show the bandages, and his eyes widened.
"I'm so sorry! I was just trying to follow orders!"
At this point, Link was cowering under your murderous gaze, and the way you gripped that sword with the intent of killing.
Had you been trained properly in the art of combat? No.
Did that matter at all to you right now? Also no.
"Y/N, stop for a moment. What orders?" Paya asked, snatching the sword from you and throwing it back to the Yiga.
You looked between the pair of them "Paya? What are you-"
"To kill the princess, obviously. I would never have chosen to do that! Surely you believe me?"
"I don't know what to believe!" you cried, frustrated, and glancing at the Triforce.
Some help might be nice, Nayru, you thought.
"He came to me a few days ago," Paya murmured, "and told me that he was deadly serious about becoming a knight. I doubted it too, at first. But he wasn't lying at all."
"So you trust a Yiga over me? I thought you hated them!" you retorted, very confused.
"He's genuine. I can tell," Paya shrugged.
"That is enough!" your father boomed as he stood up from his throne. You shrunk back at the anger in his eyes. "Don't you realise that Paya is an expert in this? She knows the Sheikah and their traitors better than anyone!"
"But... Don't you remember what they did to Mother?" you yelled back, and Link looked away guiltily.
"I had no idea your hatred of us was so personal. I'm sorry for what the other members have done, truly, but I'm not like them."
"Y/N, please just stand outside for a moment with our guest. Wait for me and Paya to come to an agreement," your father says, and you bow your head.
The air was filled with an extremely uncomfortable silence.
Trying to start a conversation, you muttered, "So... how are you?"
Link tore his gaze away from the ground and looked up at you.
"Hmm? I'm good, but I can sense that you aren't."
"Oh? Explain," you smirked, eyebrows raised.
"You're uncomfortable because of the situation. This is why I didn't want you there," he sighed. "Don't worry, I don't take any of that stuff personally, I understand your thought process. I just think you should know that I'd never try to hurt you."
The wind ruffled his golden-brown hair, and he looked out at the kingdom. "Heh, sometimes I forget how big our kingdom of Hyrule really is. It must be hard to rule it."
"I wouldn't know. I won't be the queen until my father dies, and I hope that doesn't happen for a while."
"You're lucky to have a dad like him," Link muttered. He sounded miffed about something, and he clenched his fists.
"Are you alright?" you asked, placing a hand on his shoulder.
"I'm fine. I don't feel comfortable sharing it. Maybe another day."
