Forty-Six

        When you wake up, you're wrapped up in Loki's arms, and he's sound asleep.

        You smile and just lay there, staring at his face in awe.

        "I'm so lucky to have you." You whisper.

        Loki's eyes flutter open, and he grins.

        "Good morning, darling." He greets groggily.

        You beam, "Good morning, my love."

        "You know, I'm lucky to have you too."

        You blush slightly, "You heard me?"

        "I did." Loki smiles.

        He leans over and kisses you, but when he goes to kiss your neck, he stops.

        "I'm sorry."

        You stroke the side of his face.

        "It's okay. It'll take some time, but soon it'll all be back to normal." You reassure.

        "I'm glad you're not mad."

        "I could never be mad at you, especially for an honest mistake."

        He smiles again.

        "Now, let's go get some breakfast."

        You hop up, but Loki doesn't.

        "I can't leave the cell." He whispers.

        You sit back down on the bed and rub Loki's shoulder.

        "But you're still the man I love and trust."

        "Yes, I am... but I killed two people, so they don't trust me anymore."

        "Well, I do."

        You look over when Tony and Thor walk in.

        "Want some breakfast, kid?"

        You smile at Tony, "Of course we do." You stand up and turn to Loki, "C'mon."

        "Um, not Loki... he stays here, kiddo."

        You look over at Tony again, "But I trust him. Please, let him leave his cell with me. Don't you trust me?"

        "We all trust you, but I'm really sorry, kid. We cant trust him."

        You look over at Thor for help, but he looks down, avoiding your gaze.

        "I told you, darling..."

        You look over at Loki.

        "They think I'm a monster who isn't trustworthy."

        "But you're not a monster, and you are trustworthy!" You insist.

        You look at Tony yet again, "Please, Tony. Please?"

        "Kiddo, I'm so sorry. I just... can't. Ig- the man is at..." Tony sighs, "We can't trust Loki when he knows there's another person out there who's been horrible to you."

        You shake your head, disappointed, "He won't do anything... unwarranted. Besides, I know who he is. I would trust him with my life."

        "You don't understand, my love. They wouldn't. They'll never trust me again."
