Chapter 1 : A New Book, The Same Story

A Year Later After the Events of Stars and Gunpowder.

Elena has now moved to Kentucky and had a break approved by her agency. She still visits England frequently, with her little visits she has formed a bond with Eggsy, by giving him, and Merlin, gifts from America and giving out relationship advice to his new girlfriend, Tilde. Yes, the missing Princess. Speaking of relationships, Elena is still single, like she said she has sworn off of dating but this doesn't stop Merlin from trying to set her up with men and maybe a little bit of women too.

But besides that Elena has been doing great, her peaceful life in her quiet lake house in Kentucky was everything she wanted. She was spending a bit of time outside her patio with a mug of coffee when she suddenly got a call from none other than Merlin, she chuckles and answers the call putting it on speaker

"Whats up Mama Bird"

"Hello Elena, I just wanted to check in and see how you are"

"Oh? I'm doing well, nothing strange or dangerous happening yet, but in all honesty I feel like you, just suddenly calling out of the blue is kinda suspicious" She brings the mug up to her lips and takes a sip "Can't I be concerned for a friend? Besides it must be lonely living in the middle of nowhere" She laughs and sets the mug down looking out into the view "It's not 'The middle of nowhere' it's Kentucky"

"You live in the woods"

"I live in a lake house"

"Oh really? It's not like you've said that a thousand times already"

"Ha ha okay smartass you've made your point" Elena lets out a sarcastic laugh while she hears Merlin chuckle a little "Anyways, how's my niece and Eggsy? Have you been sending them out on missions lately?"

"Yes, but nothing grand, just stopping bank robberies, saving kidnap victims, you know the easy stuff" He answers "But I have to ask, you have been close with Eggsy ever since Valentine happened, how did that happen?" She thinks for a bit before speaking "Hm, I actually don't know, I guess the fact that we both were sad that Harry was gone made us hang out a little more"

"It's nice to know you're making new friends" She rolls her eyes "Don't worry, I wont replace you"

"You better not, or else I will go full on Mama Bird on you" She laughs again and realizes what he said "Holy shit you just said Mama Bird"

"Yes I did"

"Are you actually gonna say that more often?"

"If you let me give you a weird nickname too, sure"

"Oh my Gods, we're reaching bestie territory here"

"I know, all you need to do is say yes or no"

"Of course I'm gonna say yes! Who wouldn't want to have quirky nicknames with their best friends?"

"Ok, let me think of a 'quirky' nickname for you"  They spent ten minutes thinking of nicknames until Merlin remembered one

"How about 'damsel'? I mean Harry did call you that"

"I swear to God I'm going to dig up his grave and beat the shit out of him for doing that" She jokes "Or Princess"

"Oh, absolutely not, people would think were dating"

"Actually, yeah, let's not do that" A few minutes pass by and Merlin speaks up again "Oh! Since you call me Mama bird I guess it would be fair that I call you a nickname given to a child"

"I'm not a child"
   
"Well… That's debatable"

"Can we think of something else?"

"Fine, but I'll just message you then, I have to go for a debriefing"

"Ok, understandable, have a great day.” She waits for his reaction but gets nothing "What the hell? That was funny!"

"Your humor is deteriorating, Elena"

"No it's not!"

"Get off your phone, that's when it stops deteriorating"

"Just go" She laughs looking at her phone "Okay, goodbye Elena, please do visit soon"

"Don't worry, I'll be there next week"

"Stick to your word woman"

"Aye aye captain" The call ends and she goes back inside her house to clean but was stopped by a message "Huh, when did Tom get my number?" She says in confusion opening the text

"Hey, I know you're on a break, but I would like to invite you to a small casual get together, everyones going to be there"

"Oh, yeah sure, I have nothing to do anyway. By the way, how did you get my number?"

"Scarlett gave it to me since she wanted you to join us as well"

She takes note to text Scarlett later about this and continues to type "Ok, don't worry I'll be there, just tell me when and where" Right after that he sends her a location and a time. 6:30, I have time she looks at the clock hanged up on the wall and it says 4:19 "Yeah, I have like, two hours to kill"

She spent two hours cleaning and getting ready. She has decided to wear a peach dress shirt with two buttons undone along with a cardigan and high waisted denim shorts, she makes sure to grab her keys and purse and leaves the house.

"She's finally here!" Elena was greeted as she walked into the Airbnb "Oh shut up Sebastian, I'm right on time" She goes ahead and hugs him “Aren’t you a ray of sunshine” Scarlett comes over with a glass in hand “You’re already drinking? Wow, give me some” Elena says trying to snatch the glass away but she was handed another one by Tom “There’s a lot in the kitchen, but don’t get too carried away” His hand brushes against hers as he hands her the glass “Thank you” She smiles and takes a quick sip of her drink as Scarlett nudges her and she gives Elena a suggestive look “Ok calm down” She stops Scarlett from going further. Elena gets a notification on her phone and she opens it to see its Merlin “How about The Woman” She scoffs and starts typing back “Did you watch Sherlock again?”

“Just answer my question”
   
Elena thinks for a bit and types again “Hm, tempting but it kinda sounds ominous” She looks up from her phone and sees Scarlett and now Lizzie peering over her phone “What the hell? Why is everyone so nosy” She puts her phone down back into her pocket as the girls start asking questions “Who’s Merlin?”

“Yeah and why is he calling you The Woman” Lizzie quips sarcastically “He’s a friend and we wanted to call each other dumb nicknames” Elena rolls her eyes and sighs getting tired of the two’s antics “Oooh, a nickname? Are you sure this is still platonic” Scarlett says, trying to pry her hands onto Elena’s phone “My nickname for him is Mama Bird and it's because he acts like a mom sometimes, plus he’s like a brother to me, now stop that!” She lightly pushes Scarlett away from her phone “Is everything alright here?” Chris comes in “Elena has a boyfriend!” Lizzie shouts and drags Scarlett away so that Elena won't have a chance to get to them “I- no- I don’t!” Elena protests

“Oh really?”

“No, It’s just a friend of mine don’t worry” Chris cackles “Yeah, sure, everyone believes you” He walks away leaving Elena alone

“Gods, I’m too sober to deal with this”
