Firefly [Levi x Suicidal Reader]

Chapter 8

'Oh, hey girls. I'm happy that you are here. Come in, I show you where the others are.' Eren said and lead us through the corridor. There were a lot of people, some faces are familiar from the school, but some of them were totally strange to me. We then met those guys, we met earlier today in the lunchroom.

'Heey, Christa is here and the other girl. Eh what was your name?' The guy with the brown undercut greeted us.

'Hey guys, this is (Y/N). Some of you might know her from earlier today. She is new here, so be nice to her!'
Christa answered protectively. Even though they all seemed to be friendly, it felt wrong to me. I'm not used to be around this many people.

Why the hell did I go to the party? I feel so uncomfortable. Just this one time, do it for Christa.

'(Y/N), you want something to drink?' Eren asked while he took some of the empty bottles and put them in the kitchen. 'Yeah sure, surprise me'.

They all had fun and I can't lie, it was kind of funny watching Sasha and Connie in an eating contest. Even though Sasha won she still asked for more food.

I took a sip of the drink Eren brought me. It tasted like sweet mint, not what I was expecting. More and more people joined the party, even some who wasn't invited.

'I'm sorry (Y/N), I didn't know that so many people would come. If you want to, we can go to your place.' Christa said. She felt a bit guilty because she told me it was a small group of people just hanging out. The room was full and Eren, Mikasa and Armin were super busy with mixing drinks and stuff. I felt too constricted around all those strangers and went outside in the garden. Of course a house like this would have an breathtaking garden, and I was right: the huge lawn seemed like a park. The moonlight was reflecting in a small pond that was surrounded by beautiful flowers. The dark sky was lighten up by hundreds of fireflies, whirring around the pond. I was looking at this beautiful scene and noticed that Levi sat in front of the pond, staring in the night sky.

What is he doing here? It doesn't seem like he and Eren were close friends.

I walked in his direction and sat down next to him. He was surprised but kept staring at the sky.

'Hey, I didn't expect you here.' I tried to start a conversation. I don't know why I was so interested in Levi.

'It wasn't my choice. Isabel wanted to go to the party and I can't let her go alone when its dark outside and she's drunk.'

'So why aren't you inside with her?'
I asked.

'Tch, I could ask you the same.'

There were a few seconds of silence till he continued talking.

'I want to let her have fun. It would be  unnecessary that I join. And you? Why are you here and not inside?'

'I'm not used to be around this many people and I wanted to be alone.'

Levi stood up, took his jacket and wanted to move away.

'Wait! I didn't mean that you should go.'

'Do you even want me here? It's no problem for me to seek out another place.' he said. He kept staring at me with an impatient look.

'Yes.'

Why did I say yes? I wanted to be alone, so why do I want his company?

Levi's POV:

I didn't expect her to say yes. Actually I wanted to be alone and just were polite to ask her. She doesn't seem to be loud or annoying, so maybe I can enjoy the silence even if I stay here.

I sat down next to her after I placed my jacket on the ground, so my pants won't get dirty. I looked at her and saw how amazed she was with the fireflies.

'I envy the fireflies. They just live their life, it doesn't matter if they are stressed or not, and still light up the dark for everyone else. I hope that I can be a light that shows the beautiful side of the world for the ones around me. But I guess I first have to find the beautiful side which is difficult with my bad luck.' (Y/N) said while a single teardrop streamed down her pale face.

I don't know what she went through or is still going through, but I feel the urge to help her. I never felt this way about a stranger. Maybe it is bad for me to come close to her in any way. But somehow I want to stay here with her and just watch the fireflies.
