Pansy and Blaise sat together as Y/N sat opposite them as Draco sat next to Blaise talking to Goyle and Crabbe. Dumbledore quieted everyone in the great hall as he gave a little speech about how happy he was to be back to being Hogwarts headmaster after he welcomed everyone. Y/N noticed her father talking to a new professor and Mattheo came in late sitting next to Y/N making her turn around. "What's Slughorn doing here?" Mattheo whispered to Y/N and Y/N looked confused, "where?" she asked and before Mattheo could answer Dumbledore made an announcement. "I would like everyone to welcome Professor Horace Slughorn to Hogwarts, Professor Slughorn will be the new potions master and will be the new head of Slytherin" Dumbledore said as Slytherin clapped. "Professor Snape will be taking over the Defence Against Dark Arts class" Dumbledore continued and Y/N felt numb through out her body. "Professor Slughorn was the Potions professor for over fifty years and Head of Slytherin before retiring in 1981, so we are happy to have him back" Dumbledore said and everyone cheered. Food appeared in front of all the students as they happily started eating, "where are you going?" Pansy said to Mattheo who got up from the table but he didn't answer back as he walked out of the great hall.

Y/N held her school book and novel close to her chest as she walked down the hallway before Professor Slughorn stopped in front of her. "Ah Y/N, how are you?" Professor Slughorn asked the young girl as she looked towards him, "I'm good Professor, just going into the gardens to read" Y/N said as she showed him her novel. "Just like your mother, sneaking off the read a novel" Professor Slughorn said and laughed with the girl, "you remind me so much of her" Professor Slughorn said as he touched Y/N's shoulder. "I hope in a good way" Y/N said as she saw Mattheo watching them from a far making Professor Slughorn turn his head towards the way she was looking. "Ah, yes Mr Mattheo Riddle, trouble I tell you" Professor Slughorn said as he turned his attention back to Y/N, "some may disagree" Y/N said as she looked down at her books held against her chest before walking away from Professor Slughorn and into the gardens seeing Draco bullying Harry again. Y/N walked past the boys as she rolled her eyes making Ron and Hermione laugh to themselves.

Mattheo was sitting in his empty dormitory alone as his brother was no longer at Hogwarts, he looked down at the ring again before he opened the note his brother sent him.

Somethings cannot change Theo and these happen to be one of them

Mattheo looked up towards his window as he noticed Professor Snape and Professor Slughorn talking as they walked towards Hagrid's hut. Mattheo grabbed his robe as he walked down the dormitory corridor and bumped into a small figure before his eyes met with Y/N's, "I'm sorry Y/N, I should have looked where I was going" Mattheo said and Y/N smiled at the boy. "It's fine Mattheo, I guess you can't sleep either" Y/N said as they walked towards the Slytherin common room and sat on one the couches opposite each other. Mattheo decided to not tell Y/N he was going to follow the two professors to listen to what they may be talking about. Y/N lit the fireplace with her wand as she looked towards Mattheo who was leaning forward in the couch, "are you alright?" Y/N asked and Mattheo nodded. "Just thinking" Mattheo said and Y/N giggled to herself, "you seem to be thinking a lot lately" Y/N said and Mattheo smiled at the girl.

Y/N and Pansy walked into potions class as everyone was gathering around Professor Slughorn and he noticed Y/N, "ah, Y/N welcome, and who's this?" Professor Slughorn said as he smiled towards Pansy. "This is Pansy" Y/N said as she smiled to her friend, "well any friend of Y/N's is a friend of mine" Professor Slughorn said as he gestured the girls to join the rest of the class. Pansy and Y/N stood next to Draco and Crabbe as Professor Slughorn lifted the lid of a cauldron and looked at everyone, "this is known as Amortentia, does anyone know what amortentia is?" Professor Slughron said and he looked around the class before Hermione answered. "Amortentia is the strongest love potion and creates the smell that attractive you, it has a different aroma for everyone who smells it, for example I smell scents of parchment and freshly-mown grass" Hermione said as she stood back from the cauldron. "Correct, but Amortentia doesn't really create love, of course. It is impossible to manufacture or imitate love" Professor Slughorn said as some people moved forward to smell the potion, "meaning it is the most dangerous potion created" Professor Slughorn continued as he closed the lid and students stepped back.
