Quinn had dragged himself up and left, giving me a parting glare before the front door slammed closed. Shane heaved out a sigh of relief and dropped onto the sofa, I looked at his face with a frown as he rubbed it, seeing the dark bags under his eyes and the strain visible on his features. I nudged Caesar and he looked up at me with a confused look, I jerked my head in Shane's direction, lifting a brow and giving him a stern stare, daring him to refuse.
He stared back for a second before his shoulders deflated with a sigh, he nodded and slowly made his way over to Shane, sitting beside him onto the sofa.
"What do you want on your pancakes Shane?" I asked him as I turned back around and went back to making breakfast.
It was quiet for a few moments. "Uh... just some syrup and butter please." I could hear the surprise in his voice at the offer.
Whilst they talked I started flipping pancakes and preparing the fruit, my body almost melting when Caesar wrapped his arms around me from behind, a purred growl leaving his throat as he nuzzled and kissed my neck.
I wasn't expecting their talk to be over to quick, I was almost finished with the pancakes, I could probably make one more with the batter that was left.
I turned my head and puckered my lips for a kiss, seeing a flash of a grin before his lips slanted against mine, his arms around my middle squeezing tighter and pushing our bodies together.
I had to pull away to check on the last pancake, flipping it over and seeing it a lovely golden brown.
"I'll set the table." Caesar murmured in my ear, that sensual voice of his the epitome of sex and I felt my whole body shiver as he teasingly nibbled my earlobe before pulling away.
I plated up the last of the pancakes and set the pan on a cold hob to cool, Caesar had taken the bowl of fruit, butter and golden syrup I'd left on the side so I carried the two towering plates of pancakes to the kitchen table, one plain, and one with blueberries.
To my surprise Shane was over by the kettle, making three coffee's, he set two of them down on the table before going back to get his, blowing on the contents of the steaming mug and taking a cautious sip.
When I set the plates of pancakes down Caesar's eyes lit up like a kid on Christmas and he hastily pecked my cheek before serving himself a large portion and drizzling it with syrup.
"Thank you Nikolas." Shane voiced and I looked up and smiled in his direction, I had a feeling he was thanking me for more than just the pancakes.
We'd sat at the edge of the table, Caesar on the end with Shane on one side, me on the other, which meant we faced each other, it was nice, making everyone feel included.
Shane must understand that nothing could ever happen between us but it didn't mean I'd act strange or distant when he was around, his personality might be a hard pill to swallow sometimes but he made Caesar happy, he was his friend. I wouldn't feel good being the reason they were no longer friends.
Caesar groaned dramatically as he stuffed some pancake in his mouth and I quelled the need to laugh as I saw his chipmunk cheeks, Shane didn't feel the need and let out a soft laugh as he cut up his own pancakes, already drizzled with golden syrup and melting butter on top.
"So how long did you two last?" Shane asked before eating his first mouthful, a muffled moan coming from him and I smirked, wait until he tasted my brownies.
I was a little confused as to what he meant but Caesar seemed to understand and after he'd finished chewing he spoke. "Twelve days, it was awful." he complained.
