THURSDAY, JUNE 19

"I've been waiting downstairs for over twenty minutes. Hurry up!"

Today is your first prenatal appointment. You were around twelve weeks along and most of your clothes had gotten too tight for you.

"You think I'm doing this on purpose? I can't find a shirt that fucking fits."

"Wear an oversized one. Or just put on a hoodie."

"In eighty-five-degree weather? Are you crazy?"

"Just find something in the next two minutes or you can find your own way to the hospital."

"You're not leaving me by myself."

"Watch me."

He was serious. When you went downstairs, his car was already pulling off.

"You're a jerk you know."

He hums. "And you're about to be over thirty minutes late. Hurry up and get in."

AT THE APPOINTMENT

"L/n Y/n, is it?", the doctor asks walking in, looking up from her files.

"That's me."

"Hi. I'm Dr. Kimura. I take it you're the father?", she asks turning her attention to Yūji.

He nods slightly.

"Nice to meet you both. Are you ready to get started?"

You nod.

The doctor begins your regular check-up and asks you many questions, most of them being the same ones you had been asked previously at your last appointment.

"Have you been experiencing any nausea, cramps, or headaches?"

"I haven't had much cramping or headaches", you answer. "But I do feel nauseated most of the time."

She hums.

"And how are you emotionally. Any stress or anxiety?"

"Uh, no. Not really. For the most part, I've been good."

"That's good. And is this a planned pregnancy?"

"Definitely not planned", you say.

"Alright. Well, you're at low risk which is good. I'll need to draw some blood to do a screening test if that's alright with you? Just to make sure there are no abnormalities with the fetus."

"Okay."

"While I'm out, please change into the gown hung up so I can conduct the ultrasound", she says as she walks into the other room.

You get up from the bed and pick up the gown that was hung up.

"Um hello? Turn around."
