Chapter 6: Going to Get Them

Liam POV
I was the one who noticed it first. The cells where we kept our prisoners were quiet - too quiet.

I told Christian I thought we should look after Harley more thoroughly; she was clever. But he didn't listen; why would he?

We heard the alarms go off first. Then we heard their cheering voices and running, their feet slapping the ground hard. By the time we got there, they were gone. The only hint left that they'd even been here was a note.

The note was undoubtedly worded by Harley, who was the only Dark Caster we held here. The other three - Emma, Carsten, and Zane - were all Light Casters.

Emma Thorne, age seventeen, was a rebellious young girl. Despite her Light nature, she was defensive over her friends and family, and, unfortunately, when we tried to kidnap her, her family got in the way.

Zane Kingsley was eighteen, and the feistiest person in the world... Or at least on the Light Caster spectrum of things.

And nineteen year old Carsten Briggs, son of Bradford Briggs and Johanna Jacobsen, was just a mistake... But he was a powerful mistake.

There are very few Naturals... Emma, Zane, and Carsten were the only official Naturals alive besides Lena Duchannes, and Thalia was the only Cataclyst. We took them because we needed their power. We would zap the power out of them and deliver it to Lila Jane and Thalia Duchannes when it was time for the ceremony. Together, those girls would make our dreams come true.

And now Christian and I, defeated and pissed, decided to watch our security tapes.

We skipped through the part where I planted the idea of our fake plan in Harley's head - she had no idea... At least that was a success.

Then we got to the part where Harley was probably calling her plan to the others... We had been monitoring Thalia at the time, so we didn't hear.

The three Naturals gathered up their power, and together they zapped Harley's cell open. We didn't account for them working together to defeat the magic proof cells... Lesson learned. They'd be stronger next time.

Harley grabbed the keys from the next room over and unlocked their cells, then she wrote the note. I hated the smirk on her face.

Then they ran, and once they got out, the alarms started blasting. But they were gone.

But don't worry. We were going to get them back.

Oh, we were going to get them.
