The SSA pulled up to dock at the Academy's hangar. Spyro stepped out of the cockpit and called for Spry to bring out the line. Before he could even finish calling for him, the little dragon came shooting out from below deck with the rope held tightly in his hands as he darted to the dock and quickly wrapped it around the cleat.
The pipsqueak then sat down next to it and yelled, "Come on Dad, let's go!"
Spyro smiled at him and made a show of taking his time to check everything on the ship to make sure it was ready for them to leave it there.
"Daad!" Spry whined.
"Whaaat?" Spyro said in the same whiny tone as he stepped off the ship. "Did you tie it correctly?"
For his response, Spry took hold of the line and gave it a good pull before giving him a look that conveyed, obviously.
Spyro smiled. "Just checking." The kid was too much like him sometimes.
Spyro nodded his head forward and Spry took to the air in excitement and went flying towards the end of the hangar. "Stay close!" Spyro called out.
He faintly heard the kid call back, "Okay," before he was out of sight.
Spyro sighed and shook his head as he took a gold coin out of his pouch. He looked at the approaching mabu woman and tossed her the coin. "You mind letting Eruptor know we're here?"
"Yes, of course Master Spyro." She said with a bow.
"Please, it's just Spyro." He told her.
"Yes... Spyro." She said before giving a slight bow and leaving.
Spyro smiled a bit at that and started walking through the hangar. A few dozen mabu were bustling about checking up on the ships docked around. Whenever they walked by him they would stop and give him a rather awestruck bow and mutter something about "Master Spyro" or such.
He was fully aware of his legendary status among not just the Skylanders, but the Skylands. In the time that he had been a Skylander he had done many great things, so it made sense to him that people revered him. It also helped that over his decade of retirement he had taken up a new hobby; writing.
He had completed his first book, Spyro's Adventure, a little over seven years ago and it was still a bestseller in the state of Mabulon. In it he told the tale of him rising to the occasion and becoming a leader among the Skylanders. How he took down Kaos and fought off the great Hydra that had taken Eon's body. It truly was an epic story, and everyone loved it. Since then, he had released two other stories, both regaling readers with his epic heroic deeds.
To say Spyro enjoyed the fame was an understatement. He loved it. But that didn't mean he couldn't act humble about it either. Of course, act was the keyword as he only made it seem like he was being humble about all of it. On the inside he reveled in it though. And he would continue to do so.
As Spyro approached the end of the hangar he paused to look at the last port. A wave of nostalgia washed over him as he remembered past missions always beginning and ending right here at this port. The Dreadyacht used to dock here. Instead, it was now a large sky ship with the name Sky Lady painted across its hull. Flynn had probably taken the Dreadyacht with him when he left the Skylanders.
Spry's faint voice outside the hangar brought him back from his reminiscence. Smiling, he turned and exited the hangar.
Spyro followed the sound of Spry's voice through the halls of the academy, occasionally pausing to say hello to mabu or other Skylanders he had previously worked with.
