1.2 The End of an Era

The Dreadyacht nose dipped as the ship tipped itself vertically and rushed towards the fortress below at a rapid speed. Trolls along the walls saw it coming and immediately began readying dark cannons to fire at the oncoming ship, loading ammunition and turning cranks to get them into position.

The Dreadyacht rapidly dove in a kamikaze-like fashion, gaining speed like a head on collision was its goal. The trolls steadied the cannons and locked onto the ship awaiting the order to fire. A shout rang out and the boom of the dark cannons was all that could be heard. Electrically charged orbs of dark energy rushed to meet the oncoming attacker.

The ship suddenly slowed in its descent and pulled up just over the castle. The dark energy blasts whirred past the hull, missing by mere inches. As the ship leveled out the cannons along the wall began to readjust and reload, completely unaware of the five Skylanders that had left the ship.

Spyro set Eruptor down heavily inside the fortress's courtyard. Jet-Vac dropped Pop Fizz into a somersault next to him and Stealth Elf landed gracefully at their head. "Good luck," she said quietly as the three of them rushed towards the barracks.

Spyro and Jet-Vac, both still in flight, soared up to the wall unsighted. The Dreadyacht had its party lights on now as it continued to draw fire from above. Spyro peaked over the edge at the canons as they were being reloaded. Four trolls were opening protective coverings to pull out the dark charges and then covering them again once taken out. Glancing at Jet-Vac, he held up four claws.

Jet-Vac nodded and launched himself over the wall. Four quick blasts from his vac gun sent the trolls over the edge of the fortress. Changing the dial on his gun, it began to draw the orbs of dark energy away from the cannon. He upped the power and they all launched at him. Quickly, the sky baron cut the power to his suit and dropped from the air. The orbs soared over his head as he brought his suit back online to stop himself from crashing into the ground.

Spyro leaped from the wall and soared after the orbs as they arced towards the grand doors leading into the palace. Sending an arcane powered fireball after them, he held back and watched as they all collided with the gates. A massive explosion brought them crumbling down.

Cries of challenge rang out as the trolls, now having realized there were intruders within the fortress, began rushing out of the barracks. Only as they took their first steps outside the building, Pop Fizz's trap activated and his potions around the barracks all went off simultaneously, raining rubble on the trolls. Eruptor gunned down the stragglers with his explosive magma bursts.

More explosions rang out around the fortress as Spyro and Jet-Vac continued destroying the dark energy cannons along the walls.

Stealth Elf watched as reinforcements from within the castle rushed out the now destroyed doors. Sending out her decoy projection she went invisible and sprinted around them. The trolls swung their maces at the decoy as it dodged and weaved around them. One of them finally caught it with his mace and it disappeared into a cloud of green smoke. They all stared at it in confusion.

That was when Stealth Elf revealed herself behind them. Blades whirling, she began cutting her way through the trolls. Evading all of their weapons, she made it seem like a dance as she took them down.

Six trolls were down before they even realized she was attacking them. Another three fell before they took action against her. Again, she went invisible while leaving a decoy for them to chase after. Slipping out of the thick of battle she came at them again from behind. On and on she did this, switching which direction she was coming from before they could rally on her position as she slowly cut down their numbers.

They finally wizened up and the remaining ten trolls all gathered in a circle facing outwards with their weapons ready. That's when she appeared to them up on the lip jutting out over the open gateway. She whistled loudly at them and they all glanced up at her. She gave them a small wave before Pop Fizz crashed into them in his beast form.
