Like a pair of wings

Chapter 1

"Meeting room, five minutes!"

Coulson informs as he past her bunk, looking up from the file she was reading, Skye sees how the team leader is long gone from her bunk. With a deep breath, Skye places the file on her bed. Since the accident with Miles and Rising Tide, the team she started to see as a second family has turned their backs. Except maybe for FitzSimmons, even if her relationship with them isn't the same as it had been before the accident. She knows fully well that they are all hurt that she had been keeping secrets from them, secrets about her past that they seemed like they have a right to know.

And maybe in some point they are right about that, maybe they deserve to know the truth about her. Then there is the fact that she made a promise a long time ago to keep that part of her life a secret, to keep it safe and keep making sure it stays safe and a secret. Because if that fall, she knows for a fact not even the Avengers would be able to save them all.

Realising she have been looking into space for longer than needed, Skey starts to rise from her bed, stretching her body in the progress before making sure the jacket she wears is on properly. She couldn't have them find out another secret of her life right now. Once sure the jacket is properly on and nothing is out of the ordinary, she leaves the bunk and heads for the meeting room. Reaching the room, she realises that she's the last one and she stays in the door opening, keeping her eyes on the floor.

"Good, now we can begin."

She hears Coulson say once he realises, she has arrived. Lifting her eyes, she is happy to see that neither of the 616 team is paying her any attention, all eyes on Coulson and waiting form him to start up the meeting.

"On Fury's orders, we are heading out on a 0-8-4 mission."

"Another 0-8-4?"

Coulson started to explain only to be interrupted by Simmons, turning her attention towards the science twins, Skye can see how Simmons is smiling large as she turns her head towards Fitz, the engineer having the same large smile on his face.

"Oh, I wounder what it can be this time."

Hearing the hope and excitement in his voice, Skye can't help the eye roll and as she looks towards the older agents in the room, she can see she's not the only one having this reaction. Ward is shaking his head however and as she looks back at Coulson, she can see that goofy smile of his over FitzSimmons reaction towards the information.

"Anyway, we have very barely any information to go on for this 0-8-4."

Coulson continues once more, making sure to put a stop to FitzSimmons before they keep on guessing what they would find this time. The last 0-8-4 had created a lot of trouble for them after all.

"So, it's just like normal then."

May speaks up, the tone of her voice still sends a chill down Skye's body, and she can't help but to shrink back a bit.

"This time around it's a bit more complicated."

Coulson informs and Skye finally lifts her head properly. This wasn't something she had expected to hear from him, and with another quick look around herself, Skye is quite happy to realise she isn't the only one that seems to think this. Seeing how May narrows her eyes as she looks at Coulson, Skye almost wants to turn around and leave the room right here and now.

"What else is wrong?"

She asks and Skye is quite surprised that the cold voice coming out of May doesn't make Coulson want to turn around and run away. But she has come to realise that the two older agents have known one another for a long time, so she guesses that Coulson have grown use to her personality and emotions.
