“Are you sure we are going the right way?”
Ward complains, making Skye roll her eyes before turning to look at the agent.
“How about you do all the hacking and pinpoint down the location, and I’ll do the shooting huh?”
Ever since her talk with Nicole, she feels how she has fallen back into her old habits once more. Seeing the look Ward gives her, Skye knows she has won and from the look of the smile Coulson gives her, she has done good. Turning her full attention back to her phone once more, she keeps leading them down the road.
Ward is right however, there is a much faster road leading to their destination, but since she has given Nicole all the information she needed, well. She wants to give the Librarians time to reach the book before they do, it would be to much work if they got to it first and she would need to sneak it out of S.H.I.E.L.D and deliver it herself.
“Alright, we just need to head around this corner and it’s not far from there.”
She points out after a few minutes of silent walking. Just as she is about to walk around the corner, someone walks right into her, I a faster speed than she was walking. Feeling how the person stumbles, she grabs hold of them and somehow managed to keep herself from falling over.
“I’m so sorry.”
Skye speaks at the same time as the person who walked into her do. Blinking a few times Skye looks down to see a familiar red hair. The person she is holding onto looks up and she is surprised to see Cassandra looking back at her.
“Cassandra, are you alright?”
She hears another voice she knows far to well, and looking away from Cassandra, her eyes lands on Nicole. She comes to a stop, her eyes growing in surprised as her lands on Skye. Skye must hand it to her; Nicole knows how to act well.
“Skye?”
“Nikki? Cass? What in the name of sanity are the two of you doing here?”
Skye asks, helping Cassandra to stand on her own before pulling Cassandra into a proper hug, the Librarian hugs her back and she can hear a small laugher coming from her.
“I could ask you the same kid, I haven’t seen you in a few years now. Didn’t know you were a friend of Cassandra’s.”
Nicole comments, making Skye look over Cassandra’s shoulder and towards the Guardian.
“What, you think she will tell you everything Nikki?”
Skye tells her with a laugher, and she can see how Nicole rolls her eyes at this. Letting go of Cassandra to give Nicole a hug.
“Cassandra and I have shared the same hospital room a few times. When I got the news that she got a job at the library I hoped you two would work together.”
Skye explains and Nicole pulls her into a tighter hug.
“Skye?”
Hearing Coulson ask behind them, Skye realises she had forgotten they were even there. Realising Nicole, Skye turns her attention towards the 616 and she can see a mixture of emotion in the group.
“Sorry about that, didn’t expect to literally run into some old friends.”
Skey tells them with a smile, and she can hear both Nicole and Cassandra laugh lightly at her choice of words.
“This is Nicole Noone and Cassandra Cillian. I have known Nicole since I was a young kid and Cassandra and I go a bit back too.”
She starts to explain, hopping this would be enough. But seeing the look Coulson gives her, Skye realises it wouldn’t be that easy.
“Nicole worked at the library one of my fosters worked at, when I wasn’t in school, I hanged out with them at the Metropolitan Public Library. Nicole works sort of like a babysitter to a special department in the library, which deals with research.”
Skye starts to explain, nodding her head towards Nicole who nods her own head in a greeting.
“Cassandra spent most of her childhood in the hospital, due to a brain tumour. I was in and out for a few, minor problems. I always ended up falling when I was a kid, so we become good friends. She is a brilliant girl.”
Skye continues, nodding her head towards Cassandra this time who waves her hand.
“This is Coulson, May, Ward, Simmons and Fitz. I have been working with them for a while now.”
“Let me guess, hacking?”
Nicole asks, making Skye roll her eyes.
“Yeah so? It works out very well thank you very much.”
Skye tells her, crossing her arms in the progress.
“Now what are you two doing here? Because you are far from the library.”
Skye then asks, turning everything around towards Nicole and Cassandra. Seeing how Cassandra turns her own head towards Nicole, Skye realises that since she has been as silent as she has, Nicole, most have told her she would be doing the talking. Since Nicole is the only one to know as much as she does, that is for the best.
“Rumours has it that one of Morgana Le Fay’s old books has seen in these parts. Since Cassandra is the expert on that part of history, she was the one being sent.”
Nicole explains, smiling towards Cassandra who lowers her head slightly as a gesture to look like she is embraced. Skye had however seen how the Librarians eyes had grown slightly in surprised at learning what they are after, which means Nicole is keeping secrets once more.
“Wait, Morgana Le Fay? As in King Arthur’s sister?”
Simmons asks, the attention turns towards her now and the Biochemist looks embraced for suddenly speaking up.
“The one and only, we got side-tracked somewhere however.”
Nicole explains and Skye can see how Cassandra rolls her eyes.
“You never told us what you are doing here.”
Cassandra points out and Skye turns her attention towards the Librarian and shrug’s.
“Oh, we were sent here to investigate a few things. Nothing major.”
Skye says, waving her hand at this. She can see how both Nicole and Cassandra is looking at her and the team like they do not buy that information, they both knows the truth already. At least Skye hopes Nicole have told the others enough of the truth. Seeing how Nicole is about to make a comment, a large explosion in the distance distracts them all and Skye hears Coulson bark out orders.
Turning her attention towards Nicole, she can see worry in her eyes and Skye can just hope that the others are safe, or at least as safe as they could get if they managed to blow something up.
