Walking through the centuries old city, Skye can’t help the chill going through her body. She can feel every bad thing that has happened down here, what happened to her. She has lost count on how many hours she has wished to never return back, wished to forget everything. But no matter how hard she tries to forget, she never can. And then there is her wings, a constant reminder of what she went through.
Reaching what should have been the centre of the city, her eyes lands on the cave in. So much had happened that day, so much had gone wrong. Looking at the place where it all went down, she can almost feel the change happening again.
She can feel the smoke reach her lungs, feel how a stone like cocoon starts to travel up her legs, soon covering all of her. The fear of dying and the pain as her wings starts to push out of her body, how the cocoon breaks. Closing her eyes and forcing herself to turn from the scene, Skye starts to walk once more. Hugging herself in a way to calm down.
She couldn’t afford standing around, remembering the worst day of her life. She has to find either the Librarians or the Diviner, she would prefer to find the Diviner however. The faster they can get that thing out of here, the safer everyone will be. But as she takes a right turn, she can hear voices further down the corridor and they do not belong to the Library.
Deciding that she should probably see who it is, Skye starts to walk down the corridor, as silent as possible. She can see that a chamber is opening up in front of her and if she remembers the layout of this city correctly, there is two ways to enter it and she is walking down one out of them.
“Hand over the object Miss Cillian. You have no idea of what type of powers you are working with here.”
She can clearly hear a woman speak and as she mentioned Cassandra’s last name, Skye comes to a stop. It was clear now, Cassandra has managed to find the Diviner and D.O.S.A, well D.O.S.A found her. Realising that the female Librarian is in danger, Skye starts to walk once more, pulling of the leather jacket in the process.
“And you want me to believe you do?”
She can hear Cassandra ask, making Skye smile. The other woman is stalling, hopping that someone on their team will hear them and come to her rescue.
“It’s quite clear we are more capable to handle something like this, now please, hand it over.”
Skye stumbles slightly when she hear Coulson speak. With a deep breath, she speeds up. She had almost forgotten they were involved and she had hopped that they had spread out, but leave it to her luck that they would stick together and not the Librarians and the Guardian.
“Clearly you are not, I don’t even know who you are and beside, we have an expert on this on our team.”
She hears Cassandra point out, making Skye speed up. The other woman is running out of time now. Jumping slightly, Skye takes of, flying towards her destination in full speed. Entering the room, she turns swiftly in the air before landing in front of Cassandra, back turned towards D.O.S.A and S.H.I.E.L.D, wings stretched out to hide the red-haired Librarian.
Her eyes meet Cassandra’s and she can see relief wash over her as fear starts to melt away.“You got it?”
Skye whispers, making Cassandra nod and hold out her jacket, that is clearly wrapped around the Diviner. Feeling relieved, Skye pulls out the bag she had brought with her and handed it to Cassandra.
“Carefully place it in here and put on the bag. But try and be somewhat quick about it.”
She tells her and Cassandra nods her head once more. Taking in a deep breath, Skye stands tall and lowers her wings slightly and turns around, eyes narrows as they land on Cynthia Rockwell. Out of any D.O.S.A members, it just had to be her.
“General Rockwell, we meet again.”
Skye says, venom and hatred heavy in her voice as she speaks. From the corner of her eyes, she can see that Coulson, May and Ward is in the room too, but she ignores them for now. Putting her full attention on Rockwell, Skye can see the exact moment when the older woman realises exactly who she is.
And if Skye had not been watching her so closely, she would have known it either way as Rockwell pulls her gun, her soldiers doing the same, all guns pointing towards her. From behind her, Skye can hear Cassandra let out a small gasp when she sees what is going on.
Reaching out her right hand to Cassandra, she grabbed the other woman’s arm in a try to tell her she is alright.“You.”
Rockwell somehow managed to get out, anger clear in both her voice and eyes now and Skye only second guess her decision on coming to Cassandra's aid. But only for a second, she knows fully well that she is the only one that will be able to get Cassandra and the Diviner out of this room and to the back-door the fastest.
“What’s the matter, cat got your tongue?”
Skye asks, she couldn’t stop herself and she knows fully well this will only make the woman in front of her even angrier.
“Well, we got you know, there is no escape for you this time. Arrest her.”
Rockwell says, nodding her head towards Skye in a order for her soldiers. Seeing how they start to advance on her, Skye quickly turns, taking a good grip on Cassandra and starts flying down the hallway she came through once more. Cassandra let out a small scream over what just happened and she starts hang on to Skye with all her power.
“Call the others, tell them they need to head for the back-door, now.”
Skye orders Cassandra as she flies down the corridors, taking the long way back. She wasn’t going to risk it, not knowing how the Diviner would react if it got to close to the centre.
Feeling how Cassandra movies slightly to reach her phone, Skye makes a right turn as she sees more D.O.S.A soldiers up ahead. Flying into a dead end, Skye pushes Cassandra down towards the floor as she herself leans over her, using her wings and the shadows to hide.
Seeing that Cassandra finish up the call, Skye makes a decision on what needs to be done next.
“Listen to me very carefully, I will drop you off at the back-door with the Diviner. The moment you step through the door, you need to close it. I will head back to the Library another way, I need to get these people out of here. What I need you to do, is head for the lions, walk over to the one on the right. All you have to do, is scratch him between his ears three times and he will open up the hidden passage way.”
Skye starts to explain and she can see how the red-haired Librarians eyes grow big at this.
“The same passage way you told me to forget about?”
She asks and Skye nods her head, she doesn’t like this but there is no other way.
“Yes, Jenkins will try and stop you, but this is the only way. Walk down the stairs and at the end of the hallway, there will be a cell with a woman inside. She will probably be asking for me when she sees that someone is coming over. All you need to do is tell her your name, that I sent you and that the my guess had been right. Just hold up the bag and she will understand, there is a lever on the right wall, pull it to open the gate and hand her the bag. She knows what to do with it. She will ask where I am, just tell her the truth. Knowing her, she will try and leave, do not stop her, you will not be able to and neither will your Guardian.”
Skye finish explaining, she can see that the woman in front of her has a lot of questions about all of this, but she nods her head.
“Alright.”
She says and Skye smiles, grabbing hold of her once more, Skye takes flight down the corridor once more and heads for the back-door. She can see that Eve is ushering Ezekiel through the door as she flies towards them. Changing her grip on Cassandra, she drops the female Librarian, gives her one last look before turning and heading back towards her biggest problem.
It’s all up to Cassandra now.
