After taking off the tux and washing the hair gel from my hair.. I crashed onto my bed with a goofy grin plastered to my face. Pubbie looked at me with a blank expression.
"Meow."
"Aw, it was great Pubbie. I went there, sat in the bleachers, waited for the perfect time for Audrey to be alone. I let her cry onto my shoulder making her feel cared for and then she...Friend zoned me."
As I said it out loud the grin on my face slowly faded.
I had then felt stupid, I was back to square one when I was in fifth grade.
"Meow."
"Yeah, that's not how I really wanted things to go but...At least I'm somewhere."
I stood silent for a moment
"But, now thinking of it Pubbie, I'm still seen as Tony; the ten year old loser who wore broken glasses and had a broken arm always getting hurt...I think she doesn't even have one bit of affection for me." I sighed
"Meow."
"I don't know what I'm gonna do, probably just...Stick with her till something happens."
I sat up
"But that's not what I wanted!
I told myself I didn't want to wait for something to happen. I said I was gonna go chase towards it as fast as I can, not sit around...That's what I always do! Pubbie, how can I do something when I don't even know where to start? I mean I know where I want to go, I know who I want to be but...how do I get there?"For the first time Pubbie just stood in silence, with no clue to awnser my question.
"I gusse I'll figure it out somehow." I huffed.
Suddenly a light bulb moment dawned to me.
"How about trying out for the basketball team?" I asked
"Meow."
"Yeah...I mean I'm not the athletic type but, I gotta start somewhere right? So tomorrow I'll sign up for it."
Pubbie stretched, closing his eyes for alittle cat nap.The next day, after school I watched as groups of boys and girls who looked very athletic and healthy signed up for the basketball try outs. I took out my pen, signing up right infront of them of course getting weird looks and laughed at.
But It didn't matter I was gonna prove them wrong.
The try outs were held on a Friday afternoon, which gave me enough time to practice.
The way I did and that was suggested by Pubbie was to watch all of the big games of basketball players like the Lakers and the Bulls and also watch Space Jam.
But, I didn't do just that.
I added a new ritual for my daily routine. I jogged for about one mile or so
(Depends on my mood) to increase my speed, because basketball was always with tons of running.Days had soon passed by and it was now Friday once again.
During gym which was always my last period, I had decided to take the running very seriously.
I was in the crowd with the athletic guys, which they didn't seem to like.
They had kept running faster and faster, I joined along, Suddenly the football player behind me, pushed me hard causing me to fall on my left arm.
A sharp pain had occurred causing me to yelp, my arm had went numb. The boys just laughed, continuing on with their running laps as I lied there looking up at the clouds, embarrassed.
