I was sitting at lunch once again, not in the mood to eat due to how I believe I look stupid when I eat.
Just one of those days of feeling overly self conscious.
When suddenly Zack had came along, instead of him being hyper and giddy he came in calm and careless as if he hadn't had a care in the world.
"Sup." He greeted cooly as he sat across from me.
"Hey..." I said confused
"Sorry about yesterday, I have the habit of making people feel uncomfortable when I first meet them. Sort of like a test, if you're nice to me, I'm friends with you but, If you're disrespectful then I'm not."
"So yesterday you being all... childish. Was just a test?" I asked
"Yup."
"Why would you test a person?"
"To trust."
"And I was the only one you were 'testing'."
"Yup."
"Well, is this another test or, no?"
"I don't know is it?"
I stood silent for a moment.
How can a guy test a person just to trust a person when that person who is getting tested doesn't trust him?
...if that makes any sense."So you wanna be best buds?" He asked cooly.
"I mean s-sure but I don't really know much about you." I mumbled
"Well, I'm seventeen, came from Florida, my favorite color is green, the darkest green there is, I hate school, hate people, hate my parents, hate my little sister, hate cats, can't stand the outside world, I'm just...basically dead inside....Oh and I like comics and dogs."
I sat there blank. So, he's the bad boy...who would've thought.
"How about you?"
"Umm, W-well I like comics like you, the old kind, a-"
"That's nice buddy but I don't got time for chit-chat."
I felt my blood start to boil, damn this guy is worse than Dave....and I thought Dave was the asshole of our town.
I suddenly seen Audrey coming towards us.
"Hey Tony."
"Hi Audrey." I gave an awkward smile.
"Tony, you gonna tell me who this beautiful flower is?" Zack smirked
"Umm, yeah. Audrey this is Zack and Zack this is Audrey."
"Pleasure to meet you." Zack said in a proper tone.
"Oh, you must be the new kid right?"
"Yeah, it's kinda hard fitting in, no one is really talking to me besides Tony here."
"Oh well, wanna hang out with Me and Tony after school?" Audrey invited
"I don't really wanna bother you, I know I'm such a loser to be around."
(Shit this guy can even play victim better than Dave)
"It's really no bother, me and Tony would be happy to spend time with you right Tony?"
"Y-yeah...sure."
"Really? Oh Golly! I really appreciate your empathy. I'll see you after school then." Zack gave a innocent smile, standing up, grabbing his backpack and walking shyly out of the cafeteria.
Something was telling me that Zack was only wanting to be my friend to get through Audrey's pants he looked like the kind of guy Who'd see a pretty girl and wants to try and mess up her life by bringing her down and tak advantage of her...you know the asshole.
Classic high-school Rom-com Plot...I gusse it became my life. (Or not)
After school I had to stay at my place for a while waiting for Zack to come along because Audrey hadn't give him her number yet.
"So, do you like Zack?" Mom asked as she washed dishes
"Umm, y-yeah he's g-great." I lied
"I knew you'd like him, he's more of you're type, a sweet boy who loves all of those nerdy things like you.
"Mhm."
"I mean I wanted Dave to get along with him but it didn't really work out, he thinks Zack isn't a bit like him."
(That's a lie)
"Yeah...umm Mom, I gotta go out for work alright? Can you feed Pubbie tuna for me? it's his treat day."
"Alright."
I started heading my way knowing Zack probably wouldn't come along or he went along without me.
Which he did...he went along without me. Turns out, he read the number on my cast, wrote it down, called Audrey, said I was unable to come cause I had an appointment to check my...my...you know.
Anyway he then left without me.
(What a friend)I ran my way to the special place Audrey had took me to, I seen Audrey and Zack both laughing and joking around, they both looked at me, Zack with a evil look on his face and Audrey confused.
"Hey Tony, I thought you went to the doctor to get...checked." Audrey said awkwardly.
"Yeah, you told me you were gonna get you're p-" Zack tried to embarrass me more but I had cut him off.
"I-I actually canceled...to umm, come over here" I felt my ears get hot, I was embarrassed, frustrated and confused.
Zack embarrassed me, he lied to me. I knew this guy for only two days yet he already hates me and I'm already annoyed by him, I don't know why I agreed to be friends with him in the first place.
I gusse I was just so lonely that, I was desperate to finally have a friend that's a guy, because I don't have any.
(Well...he actually seemed forcible about the whole thing so I agreed so I won't get socked in the face...I mean I don't need another broken bone.)
The whole time I sat in the corner as Audrey and Zack talked for hours. Whenever I tried talking to her, Zack just interrupted me, not giving me a chance to speak.
I had gotten adjudicated about the whole conversation so, I left early. The excuse was my mom called me because I had to go to the "appointment"
Now just thinking of it, I embarrassed myself more than Zack did...great.
I now turned into a third wheel, now knowing that Zack is after Audrey and how Zack is way better than me in many ways, I most definitely don't have a chance with Audrey now.
Just when I thought things will turn up, they were actually going down.
