Y/N AND DREAM CONTINUED walking along the stadium's roof, making it around the northeastern end. they found another outpost, sitting on its ground and dangling their legs between the balcony bars. they talked for a while and eventually landed on the topic of how they got into racing.
"there had to be some origin story before your dad." dream mocked, letting out a small laugh as you smacked his shoulder. you sighed, letting a smile adorn your lips. "no well.. you're not wrong though." you confirmed, leaning your head forward against the balcony bars in front of you, feeling the metal against your forehead being cool to the touch. dream gestured toward you, a signal for you to continue speaking. you collected your thoughts briefly before opening your mouth.
"my grandpa used to take me to race tracks. and not in these like big modern stadiums. like in these makeshift race tracks. some were from private property, completely abandoned. and some were not. but it was really beautiful at the time." you went on, reminiscing and vividly picturing you as a toddler, running around with a huge grin and feeling the radiating warmth from holding your grandpa's calloused hand, similar to holding a hot cup of cocoa in the middle of winter. "he'd prop me up on his shoulders and i'd shout with the crowd, watching some drag races before new lanes were built and the amount of drivers competing became bigger. grandpa would let me bet on certain drivers." you explained, smiling at the thought.
dream also smiled, looking at you with gleaming eyes of curiosity and adoration. "did you win any of them?" he asked, engaged in your words. you chuckled and scoffed a bit. "yeah. big time... only some times though." you retorted. both of you chuckle while you moved your legs back and forth out of sync, looking down at how much distance there was from the street to the stadium rooftop. "i just thought the race cars were cool.. and the fact that my grandpa and my dad worked with them made me wanna do the same." you paused for a moment, your breathing and the memories playing in your head putting you in a relaxing trance.
"and then obviously, i worked in the mechanic shop for a while." you said, looking over at dream, both of you knowing what you were talking about. the first time you two met. "annnd.. that's about it. those were good times." you clapped your hands a bit, your shoes buckling together while you let out a sigh. "i wish i could go back.. when no insane shit was happening. people were just street racing underground, and gathering to attend drag races and luxury car shows. the culture felt.. unstoppable." you said, thinking back to the asian street culture that you grew up with. dream nodded slowly, thinking about what it's like to be in your place. "of course. that sounds amazing." he responded, feeling himself smiling while staring at you.
