chapter thirty-four

skyler's pov:
the tingling feeling of warmth on my skin contrasted with the cool silk sheets beneath my body. my vision was blurry as my eyes opened for the first time in hours. the warmth that made my skin tingle was the sun rays shining through the window, and not ethan. in fact the bed was empty and the whole house was quiet.

roaming the house, not a sound was heard until i made it past the kitchen where i could here muffled laughing and splashes. walking to the glass back door i could see my three friends all outside in bathing suits, messing around by the pool.

ethan's eyes met mine through the glass and slightly jogged to the door. opening the door, but not coming inside because he was wet, he greeted me.

"hey good morning, elle convinced us to get in the pool but i didn't want to wake you, figured you'd enjoy your rest", he smiled. giving a small smile back he asked me, "do you want to join us? i'm sure there's a bathing suit in the guest room"

giving another small smile i nodded and made my way back through the house. panic spread across my body when i saw that the only bathing suits cameron left here were two-pieces. if i take too long it's just gonna be more noticeable, so picking the most concealing suit, i rushed to the bathroom and put it on. fear of what id see, my eyes slowly raised to the mirror. no one has ever seen this much of my body before and now i'll have to go out in the open in front of all my friends. my basically naked body left all my bruises and scars exposed.

letting my eyes skim my pale damaged body one last time, i wrapped a towel around myself and worked up the courage to walk towards the back door.

ethan's pov:
my eyes tore away from grayson dunking elle into the pool when i saw the back door open and sky's shy self walk out with a towel wrapped around herself. she walked to a lawn chair and stopped before slowly dropping the towel, revealing her beautiful body as her skin shimmered in the sunlight.

her arms wrapped around her waist as she dipped her toes into the pool, gradually walking deeper in. once the water went past her thighs she unwrapped her arms from her body, revealing her bruised body. i wasn't surprised to see those rats hurt her as soon as they could but it was still sad to see.

elle and grayson were occupied until sky's body was almost fully submerged, making her scars unable to see under the rippling water. as soon as sky caught their attention she was attacked with water. she laughed and splashed them back, keeping a smile on her face. the water droplets on her skin glimmered as she suddenly screamed for help, catching my attention. i tried to run as fast i could but then remembered i'm in a pool- so sWiMmInG to her as fast as i could, i reached her side and helped attack elle and grayson.

the fight ended with grayson and i tackling each other into the deep end while skyler and elle sat on the steps laughing at us. once we were at the point of basically drowning each other trying to be the winner, the girls had to interfere and calm us down. party poopers.

elle and grayson got out before us because they were the first ones to get in. they said they were going in to start lunch so skyler and i took our time. swimming over to her, i caressed her skin under the water. pulling her body against mine, her face followed, her lips meeting mine.

"how are you?", i kissed her on the forehead and whispered in her ear.

~ "i'm okay. just... insecure", she whispered back.

"well you look beautiful", giving her one last kiss i look her hand and helped her out of the pool. a small breeze made our wet bodies shiver so i quickly grabbed her towel and tightly wrapped her body like a little burrito.

going back inside we sat next to each other at the counter and ate the sandwiches made by grelle. elleson? (grayson and elle) yeah that's not a cute couple nickname.

while grayson and elle make corny flirts with each other i saw sky tense up before cuddling closer to me. i could sense the tension in the air and noticed the mood change. even if everyone else was oblivious.

"hey we're gonna go up to the room" i interrupted graysons cheesy pick up lines.

authors note: are they gonna actually sleep or try something new?
