Young Sirius Black ~ My Safe Place

"James Potter, I swear to godric if you do that again I'll-," getting up ready to chase the boy in front of me. He had been annoying me for the last hour and a half by trying to take my book away.

"Yeah? What are you going to do y/n? Tell my mummy?" He laughed, but there was still a little fear in his eyes.

" Worse, my sister. Lily! Tell your boyfriend to stop!" I smirked. Lily was my twin sister but we were almost completely different in every way except for our Hogwarts house. Still, she was my best friend and she was my protector from James.

"James Potter! We've talked about this! Stop messing with her!" She took my book from my hands and hit him over the head with it. Remus and Peter chuckled at the sight. I smiled in pride until I realized something.

"Has anyone heard from Sirius? Wasn't he supposed to come or did you forget to invite him, James?"

"Of course not! How could I forget him. He's spent almost every holiday over here since first year anyway so I don't know why he's late."

In that moment, the door bell rang out which everyone ran to, James and I in the front. James swings the door open to reveal Sirius. He was holding a suitcase by his side and his clothes torn up. His face was covered in bruises and blood, bruises lined his arms and scrapes were bleeding through the holes in his pants. He was out of breath and rocking back and forth on his feet as if he was trying to keep himself awake.

"Sorry I'm late," slipped through his lips before he started to fall into James and I's arms.

"Mum! Come quick, its Sirius!" James yelled out.

Mrs.Potter came running out, ready to help. I helped her carry Sirius to the couch. She ran off to go grab some clothes to clean him up with.

A tear fell down my face. I was scared. Was he going to live? I had always been the closest to Sirius. He was always the one to calm me down when I was freaking out about something, the one to make me laugh when I'm sad, the one I'd trusted to keep all my secrets except for one. I had feelings of sorts towards him. I didn't know what to make of these feeling yet but I think he felt the same way.

Mrs. Potter brought some wet cloths and handed one to me. I began wiping the blood gently off his face. More tears began falling from my eyes. I heard James whisper something to Lily then she was immediately by my side. She ran her hand up and down my back, telling me it would be okay and that he'll pull through because he always does.

"Lily, we were just sitting here playing stupid games while he was fighting for his life. We should have noticed he wasn't here earlier and we could have gone to help him. Now he might die and its all my fault, he needed me and wasn't there like I promised," I cried out. I felt like my throat was closing and Lily hugged me tight, hushing me trying to calm me down. I couldn't calm down though, no matter how hard I just couldn't help but think that this was my fault.

I felt a movement beside me and I looked over to see Sirius, still very beat up and tired looking, sitting up starring at me. "I'll be okay y/n, I promise," he gave me his best smile.

I stoped crying, smiled at him and pulled him into a hug, "Don't ever do that again. You almost died and I don't think any of us can handle the thought of loosing you."

"He won't have to worry about that. Mum said he could live with us," James said, coming from the kitchen holding some steaming tea.

"Really?" He stood up, not really believing what he had heard, " I can stay here?"

James nodded and Sirius leap up off the couch in joy. He ran up and squeezed James and the ran to his mother and did the same. I couldnt be more happy for him.

"You get the bedroom next to mine. Do you need help getting your stuff up there or-" Sirius cut James off.

"Can y/n actually come with me? I-um I need to talk to her," he blushed a little and looked at the ground.

James agreed and Lily winked at me. I followed him up the stairs and into the bedroom. He sat his suitcase on the bed and then sat himself on the bed. He looked at me with curiosity.

"Why do you care so much about me? I mean, I know everyone cares about me but you, you really care about me in a way they don't," Sirius looked up at me. He looked deep in my eyes as if he was trying to find the answer. I knew he probably knew about my feelings or at least thought I had feeling for him.

"Umm- So- I might- umm- I think I have feelings for you," I could feel my face on fire. I didn't know his reaction and really didn't want to know his reaction. I starred at the floor, not really knowing what to do. I heard him get up off the bed and move closer to me. I saw his feet shuffle towards me and he rested a hand on my arm. Without saying anything, he took a finger a lifted but my chin so I was looking at him in the eye.

And then he kissed me. Sirius Black kissed me. My hand lifted to his face after a minute of shock on my part.

Once we split apart, we looked into each other's eyes for a second before Sirius said, "I sorta like you too."

I smiled. I didn't think I could get any happier in that moment.

"Okay love birds, its time to eat," Lily stood leaning on the door frame and crossing her arms with a smile spread across her face.

I turned to walk out the door but Sirius grabbed my arm and pulled me back to him to press a quick kiss on my lips before following me out the door. We made our way down stairs where James was smirking at the two of us which I rolled my eyes at.

We all sat down around the table, the brutal worry of a few hours ago put behind us as we began to dig into Mrs. Potter's feast. Sirius glance over at me while I reached over to grab the potatoes and grabbed my hand. We intertwined our fingers and smiled at each other in happiness before digging into the food on our plates, our hands sitting together on my lap under the table.
