How the whole 'MommyKawa' Thing started

Once at a very stormy day of practice, Oikawa opened the gym doors to see every team member crouched in front of crying first years.

Oikawa dropped his bags in a heart beat and immediately sprinted over.

“What happened?? Are they alright?!”

Kunimi looked up at Oikawa and latched his arms around his neck crying louder.

Kindaichi eventually doing the same after a few seconds of sniffing.

Oikawa rubbed their backs softly, shushing them quietly.

The two first years eventually calmed down.

“Now will you tell me why you two were crying?”

The two looked at each other before Kunimi looked at Oikawa again and explained.

“They... Some kid at our class room decided it would be a good idea to point out out insecurities..”

Oikawa's face turned dark immediately, switching from worried to absolutely pissed.

And at the most unfortunate time, the kid Kunimi was just talking about decided to drop by.

“Oh look at this~ if it isn't the feminine boy and the reliant member who never does any--”

Poor guy couldn't even finish his sentence.

Being cut off by a continuous array of literal balls flying to his face.

The culprit of course, being Oikawa Tooru.

Beside him was the ball cart as he continuously spiked balls.

“You see kid, the difference between Kindaichi and the bullshit your spouting is the fact that he actually does contribute to the team. And he contributes a damn lot. You see, unlike you who's only ever been benched in the basketball club, Kindaichi actually plays on the court. And he does a great job.”

Word for word, Oikawa stepped closer and closer to the kid.

“And who gives a fuck if Kunimi's body is feminine? It just gives him more advantage. Ability, Agility, flexibility and the potential to attract people to like him. Unlike you who doesn't even attract flies, how can you compare to them?”

Oikawa said as he stared the kid dead in the eyes before straightening his form and picking up the balls he used to hit the kid.

The kid hastily got up and literally ran out, completely forgetting his belongings.

The team just stared at Oikawa as if he were an angel that literally fell out of the skies just to watch over them.

“Kunimi Akira. Kindaichi Yūtaro.”

Oikawa said as he turned to look at the two while holding the ball.

“You might think those insecurities are bad, but they aren't always bad. Look at it on the positive side. Yūtaro can't be noticed if he doesn't have a presence and gets looked down on. Just like Hinata Shoyo from Karasuno. Difference is, they don't notice you. I'm here to bring out one hundred percent of this team and I'll make sure to give you a spot light. They're always watching me, but they don't know who I set to. That is your advantage Kindaichi Yūtaro-Kun.”

Oikawa pointed at Kindaichi as he tossed a ball to him, while doing so, he looked at Kunimi.

“And you might think having a feminine body is.. Misleading, and unmanly but, who wants to be like everyone else? Us humans are designed to be unique. I'm not you and your not me. But having a different build or body shape doesn't make you any less, important. And as I've said before, having a feminine body has it's advantage. Take Sugawara Koushi, better known as number two of Karasuno. He has excellent talent and potential. Paving a path for his team, and their ace. And he has a feminine body, hell almost all of the setters have feminine bodies. Your not alone.”

Oikawa stepped closer to the two and pat their heads gently.

“Everything is under control. And if your happy, who cares what others think? It's your life and you get to chose how you live it. Don't let the haters get you down.”

Oikawa gave them the most gentle, genuine smile they ever saw.

That's when they knew, Oikawa didn't just serve as a team captain or setter in their lives, he was like, a secondary parent.
