Chapter 7: Goodie Goodie

After a final week of practice it was final time to check the depth chart to see who's starting in the season opener. As Coach Gills and the rest of the coaching staff came out of the office you could see there was some mixed emotions with the decisions so Coach decided to post it on the big board then he told us to meet him in the multipurpose room to go over the game plan. So after everyone bombarded the depth chart sheet I finally made it to see the sheet and it had me as the second string quarterback. I walked off you could see the rest of my teammates shocked of the decision but I was humbled but shocked at the same time. As my crew went into the multipurpose room with my head held high and took a seat on the side beside the crew as Cortland walked in with Trenton, Ish, and Shae you can tell that he had sighed and prayed that he would start over me so his crew took a seat in the front of the room until Coach Gills and the rest of the coaching staff walked into the multipurpose as everyone got quiet Coach Gills sighed and said that this decision was a very tough decision but it was best for the team now we have to focus on the matter at hand and that's LSU. They're defense is stacked and we know that Coach Taylor and his regime will try to stay in the top 25 now this will be our first time facing a team in the top five but win, lose, or draw I am proud of all of you, Now let's go to work! After practice I headed off to class but before I could walk in I seen Callie standing in the hallway waiting on me. I know we don't have this class together so why did you decide to grace my prescience with your beauty?? Oh Boogie that's so sweet now I know that you've got a lot on your shoulders with football but I wanted to let you know that Cortland and I are back together as a matter of fact he actually proposed to me last night at dinner and I actually accepted. That announcement actually hit me like a ton of bricks but I decided to congratulate her on the engagement hopefully I'll see you around. The bell ringed and I went inside the classroom, after a long day in the classroom I decided to get some reps later on that night to take my mind off of everything, as Coach Gills walked on the football field he wasn't shocked that I was here so he approached me, and told me don't try to kill yourself now. I told him that practice makes perfect you never know when your number may be called so I gotta stay ready. Coach Gills smiled then told me that this decision today wasn't personal as a player I have raw talent and potential that hasn't been tapped in but when that time comes I'm looking forward to seeing it until then I need you well rested now go back to your dorm. I agreed to listen to Coach Gills so I put the football's back in the bag then took the bag back to the multipurpose room as I opened the door I knocked the gym bag out of a young lady's hands as the football's went everywhere she told me nicely done!! As I helped her with the basketball's she instantly knew who I was so I asked her did we meet?? No we haven't but I played basketball for East Greenville Academy plus you use to date my friend Lyric. Wow Greenville is very small said Lawrence, it really is Lyric would always talk about you, she also made me step my game up when we played against each other. As I noticed the lace front and baby hair laid down perfectly I instantly knew who she was and I have to say baby girl was fine so as we continued to catch up on our way back to the pit I found out that she grew up on the east side of Greenville she went to Burke Academy. Bro my dad is a huge fan of yours I know that he's gonna be bummed that you're not playing in the LSU game. I told Akira in due time I gotta stay humble and patient hopefully my number will be called so I gotta keep grinding. That's the right attitude to have bro but in the meantime you can keep me company as she placed her hands on mines I smiled at her then told her that I would love that. I'm glad that your down to kick it but is it true that you are a hopeless romantic?? Lawrence choked on his water then gasped for air while she laughed at me and told me she was sorry I just like to mess with you as she grabbed a napkin she leaned over the table and wiped my face then slowly kissed my lips as she leaned back into her seat I told her you really got game..
