"So. What did you want to say?" Shinsou deadpanned as he sat crossed legged on his bed and gestured to his desk chair for Spinel to use.

"I wanted to talk to you about...about what happened a while back." Her throat felt dry as she pressed on further. There were lots of things she wanted to say but she wasn't sure how.

"I see." There was a moment of awkward silence. "Well, I have a response now." His nerves all bundled together as they sparked in different directions. He did know what to say, kinda. "I don't really approve of what you did and what you are doing."

Spinel pursed her lips. Of course.

"But I can understand that you did what you had to. You needed to survive, and you found a way to do it."

Spinel's eyes filled with hope as she listened on. "W-well, I was just." She looked down and frowned at her lap. "If it's ok with you, I really enjoyed being friends with you and Mei-Mei. And I know I really don't have any right to say this but..." Spinel shifted uncomfortably in her seat. "If it's ok, would it be alright if maybe you would be willing to be my friend again." Spinel bit her lip trying to hope for the best.

There was a long silence. The tension in the room once more skyrocketed even higher. Shinsou was at a loss for words as he tried to process what happened. She had done something, but she had come clean to them about it, but this time it was Shinsou who had something to hide. He now understood how she must have felt hiding the truth. It was a terrible twisting feeling in his gut that refused to go away. Could a friendship be rebuilt on this rocky foundation? Spinel did it before, what's the problem if you do it? The little voice in his head chimed.

Shinsou was conflicted. He didn't know what to say. He wanted to be friends again. But could he do that now that he was keeping a terrible secret from her? He would be no better than a hypocrite if he did. But he needed to be there for the damage control after...well, after her brother would be captured. "I think the three of us could be friends again." Shinsou was willing to put all her baggage to the side and try to start over. "What do you say?"

Spinel beamed. She couldn't be happier.

----------

Spinel flopped down on her bed once she retreated to her room. Despite what happened she still wasn't planning to go down for dinner. She was feeling a little 'under the weather'. Spinel called her brother. "Firecracker!"

"You sound much happier. What happened?" he asked a little surprised at how big a mood jump it was from a few days prior.

"I think, we all made up."

Dabi furrowed his eyebrows confused for a moment before he realized what she was talking about. "Oh! That's great, Munchkin."

Spinel couldn't see his proud grin, but she could certainly feel it. "Yep!" She chirped. "Oh, and is it ok if tomorrow I visit you after school?"

"I mean I don't see why not. As long as you are back by curfew it'll be fine."

"Great!" The pair said their farewells' and goodnights before Spinel hung up and put her phone on her charger. "I should be doing that paper" or I could just not. That little voice whispered in her head. Spinel shrugged then snuggled up in her blankets. It wasn't due till a few days from now, so she still had time. Spinel was tired but happy, it was the best possible way to end a school day.

- ----THE NEXT DAY-----

Spinel grumbled as a stray beam of light hit her face. "Go away, I don't wanna wake up yet." Her alarm hadn't rung yet so she could take a few more minutes. WAIT. WHAT? Spinel was suddenly awake as she looked at the time. She had overslept by three hours. "What the hell? I slept early last night; how did I not wake up?" Spinel scrolled through her phone and found the source. Her alarm did go off, but her phone was both set to silent and vibrate off. She groaned before she snuggled back in bed. "Looks like I'm skipping." Spinel rubbed the sleep out of her eyes and called Dabi.
