"Y-you told them, didn't you?" Spinel's voice was small at first. She didn't want to believe it was him, but it made perfect sense. A myriad of emotions swirled in a toxic storm building within her. "I trusted you." Spinel's face contorted to pain then anger as tears threatened to fall once more. "I TRUSTED YOU SHINSOU!" She shouted, unable to hold back anymore. She felt so betrayed.

"They were only going to capture him" Shinsou protested as he took a step back away from her hostility.

She slapped him across the face. The sound echoed through the hallway. Spinel's tears finally fell. "He is dead! Shinsou, my brother is dead!" She bit her bottom lip as she wiped away her angry tears of frustration. She felt so bitter, she took his word and trusted that he wouldn't say anything. Spinel was fully aware that no one had asked him about her brother. Meaning that the only logical explanation was that Shinsou had willingly told the heroes. "How did you even find us?" She growled, once again deadly quiet.

His eyes widened for a moment. Dead? He wasn't aware that her brother had died. He thought they were just going for the capture. "I saw you and him going home together. And when you said criminal, I didn't think you meant supervillain! We are heroes in training!" He protested as once more the shouting contest ensued. "What were you doing there anyway? It was a school day!" Thankfully, all their classmates had already left the building so no one was around to hear them.

"What was I doing there?" She snarled. "Am I not allowed to visit my brother? And it's a great fucking thing I did visit him! At least that way I had one last day with him!" She paused for just a moment. "He died to protect me. So, I wouldn't be caught by the heroes." Her voice sounded so broken.

Shinsou bit his bottom lip as he tried to ignore what she had just said. "But he was in the league of villains!"

"He was going to quit the league once he achieved the one goal he joined them with. Ya know, the one that isn't the destruction of society? Once he quit, he was going to try and find someone who could change his appearance so he could go have a normal life while he supported me as a hero!" Spinel knew Shinsou was right, but she also knew about Dabi's plan to leave the path of villainy. The silence in the hall caused their pain to echo. "You knew he was all I had left! I trusted you Shinsou! I trusted you, that's why I told you!" Her tears fell once more as the knife in her back from his betrayal twisted.

"I'm sorry." He mumbled. "I-I didn't mean for this to happen"

Spinel raised an eyebrow in disbelief. "I'm sorry? That's really all you have to say? You didn't mean for any of this to happen?" She laughed coldly. "You mean you didn't maybe, ya know, think your actions through beforehand? That you didn't know that the heroes would come attack us? Come on. You can't expect me to believe that. You aren't stupid Shinsou." Spinel ran her fingers through her now mid-length hair. She had trimmed the burnt tips off prior to breakfast. "Saying sorry doesn't fix anything. I'm not going to put a shitty band-aid over a stab wound" she hissed.

Shinsou knew this would happen at one point but he wasn't expecting it to be so soon. She was right. Saying 'sorry' couldn't make things right again. It couldn't bring back the dead. "I didn't want it to happen like this. I didn't want him dead!" He shouted.

"Then what did you want? I trusted you! Did my trust mean nothing to you?" Spinel grit her teeth; her face was contorted in pain. "He...he was all I had left and you knew this" Spinel sneered "Or perhaps it was your way to save a 'damsel in distress' from the big bad 'monster', to swoop in and save the day just like a real hero. Take everything that is important, destroy it and all of a sudden the damsel runs into your arms. Maybe that's what you were going for," She spat, venom laced in her words. Spinel squeezed her eyes shut and furiously wiped away the tears. "Just-just leave..." Spinel sounded so defeated, like she had already given up on trying.
