A lot of times people wish for things to have gone differently. All the 'what if' scenarios. But one can never turn back time. What's done is done. Maybe somewhere out there a better timeline was created. A happier one.

- ----TWELVE YEARS LATER-----

Years had passed since that day. Class 1-A had persevered through all their hardships and finally became official pro heroes. "Wow~ look at that" Spinel sprawled on her couch as she lazed about on her phone. "Deku is once again voted as the number one hero. Why am I not surprised?" She giggled. "As expected by someone taught by the legendary All Might himself." Spinel yawned as she wandered into the kitchen. After Spinel killed her parents, she had spent the next day ransacking her house for any valuables and items she wanted to keep or sell. She did have to ask Mr. Compress for help when it came to moving the furniture, but apart from that it was pretty smooth sailing. She had moved around apartments quite a bit before she decided on a rather new swanky apartment complex -at least for the area she lived in.

Her phone rang. "Hello?" She chirped into the phone. "Ah! Yeah, I do. Alright. Sounds good. Same place as last time. You know the drill." She hung up.

Since Spinel left UA she began to train under Giran, he wasn't going to live forever so he needed someone to take over once he retired. Thankfully, Spinel was there to pick up the slack. She started out as an informant in training while she still took some odd jobs, though nowadays she took more killing jobs with just how much money they paid.

Just because she was interning under Giran didn't mean he gave her free money. Spinel was his successor in the making so of course she wouldn't get paid for that. Her plan was once she had fully taken over for Giran she would stop taking those extra jobs.

Spinel shrugged on her jacket. The only physical item she had -barring photos- of her brother. It had saved her on more than one occasion, so she liked to think it was magical or something like that. She ran her fingers gently over the worn fabric. Call her immature, but it was her way of hoping that somewhere Touya was watching over her.

Spinel checked her pockets to make sure she had everything she needed or might need as she left her apartment. She didn't really have anything to do but sometimes she liked to listen around and hear what was going on.

Spinel entered a relatively full bar. It was a dimly lit circular space that reeked of cigarettes and alcohol. She had nothing against alcohol, in fact she liked it. She was just a bit irked that she couldn't get drunk no matter how much she drank -courtesy of her quirk. Energetic music blasted from the speakers muffling any conversations. The muted colors of the walls seemed to shimmer from the laser lights. If anything, the bar seemed more like a club. She found who she was looking for. "Ah! There you are!" She took a seat next to the cap-wearing man. "Shouto, how many times have I told you just to wear a wig and makeup?"

He rolled his eyes at her. "Because if I wear makeup and a wig, way too many girls try to hit on me. I'm a married man for goodness sake." He flashed his ring as if to prove his point. The pair had fallen out of contact for a few years before one day -by coincidence- they had met in the grocery store. They had agreed that they weren't going to talk about their jobs or their statuses as 'Hero' and 'Villain'. Though if he needed some information Spinel wasn't opposed to giving him some.

"Anything fun today?" Spinel grinned as she drank a few sips of her cocktail.

"We got a bunny. Izu named it 'Mighty'"

Spinel giggled a little. "Of course, he did. Y'all are so cute. Sorry I couldn't attend your wedding. Ya know, busy 'n stuff." She joked. Since becoming an official villain, she had made quite a name for herself. 'Kanaani, The Cat.' She had done a few jobs that required her to kill, but a majority of them involved networking and information trading. She had to take over for Giran after all.

"How about you? How are you holding up?"

------

Shinsou gasped as he woke up with a start. It was the same nightmare again. He got up to wash his face and get ready for the night. A quick glance in the mirror told him what he already knew. He looked more tired than normal. Insomnia plus nightmares was a recipe for disaster. It was always the same scene, a smile amidst a sea of red. Spinel haunted him. At first, he thought he could ignore it, but how naïve of him.

It had taken him a few years to find her again. He had become borderline obsessed when it came to locating Spinel. Since he was an underground hero it was much easier for him to search. He had heard rumors of a legendary informant trained by Giran who knew everything about everyone. If Shinsou could just find the informant there was a possibility that he could find Spinel. Though he had another theory he wanted to check first. More importantly he needed to apologize for what he did. He needed closure to stop the nightmares. Shinsou had spent twelve long years contemplating what he would say to her. He just needed the chance.

------

Once Spinel had said her goodbyes to Shouto, she refastened her glowing mask. She wasn't planning on working that night, but the iconic mask worked as a good deterrent from anyone stupid enough to try talk to her or even worse, attack her. If anyone other than a hero tried to attack her, Spinel would make sure that they lost everything they cared about one by one so they would fall into a despair so deep that they beg her to kill them. She would be doing them a favor at that point.

Spinel climbed up to a roof of one of the many abandoned buildings and sat on the ledge. It was a full moon, so she intended to enjoy it to the fullest. Spinel found that she didn't sleep as much as she used to thanks to the nightmares and incessant whispering of the little dark voices in her head. She would much rather stay tired but sane, thank you very much. Tired was a good look on her anyway.

"Kanaani?"

Spinel perked up to the familiar voice. She switched on her voice modulator and turned to face him with a polite greeting. "What can I do for you, hero?"

Headspace stood in front of the petite informant. "A-are you really Spinel?"

She turned off her voice modulator and pulled down her mask revealing her face. "What does it matter to you?" Spinel hissed; her voice filled with malice. Shinsou looked exactly the same as she remembered, well apart from the fact that he grew a bit taller, but face-wise he was exactly the same. There were two little things that hurt the most, both the keychain and the clover were missing. I guess that's to be expected, it has been twelve years.

"I-I just." Shinsou was at a loss for words as he stood on the same roof as her. He had spent twelve years preparing for this meeting, but now he couldn't find anything to say.

The moonlight illuminated her smiling face. The only difference to her appearance was a long jagged scar that started at her right jawline and reached down her neck to stop at her collarbone. Apart from that it was almost chillingly identical. Spinel looked so innocent and unassuming as she slowly stood up.

Spinel raised an eyebrow and nodded. "Nice, nice. You really did think it through. Twelve years and this is all you come up with? Fantastic." She laughed coldly. "You really do crack me up. I never wanted to see you again. I'm sure it's the same with you, right?" Spinel didn't wait for an answer before she attacked him.

They danced around in the night with string and teeth paired with cloth and blade as they attacked with deadly accuracy.

"I want to help you! After you do your time you can go back to a normal life! Thi-This isn't how things were supposed to be." Shinsou grit his teeth as he deflected every attack from her yoyos. How did it come to this?

"You're right. This isn't how things were supposed to be, but this is what it is." She kept her face neutral, hiding the pain in the shadows cast by the moon. "You betrayed me." Why are we like this?

Fate looked down on them with pity, as on the ground lay two keychains broken and soaked in blood.

"You've become a wonderful hero and I'm so glad to be your number one fan."
