Spinel turned to the unknown voice as she slowly released the unrecognizable corpses from her mouth before she switched back to her humanoid form. Blood coated around her mouth, stained her clothes and dripped down her fists. She tilted her head trying to understand what was going on as her delirium settled down. The unknown voice belonged to a hero. Her eyes widened in both fear and surprise. Just behind the hero stood Shinsou, he was frozen in place as he took in the scene before him.
Shinsou was disgusted with the blood and gore that converged in one portion of the lab. It made his skin crawl; it was a scene only found in nightmares. The sight made him feel sick from the tips of his hair to the ends of his toes. Shinsou knew evil when he saw it.
"What have you done?" The hero repeated. He was sent on a mission with his intern to take down a Nomu lab, but they weren't expecting a third party. From the looks of things, there was a massacre. The puddles of blood on the floor contrasted with the clean white of the tiles. He wasn't sure exactly what to do now. Does he take down the third party? Who was this girl? How dangerous was she and what was she doing here?
"I-I got rid of them." Hate and enmity welled up in her heart as she thought of the possibility of her parents being alive. "I took care of the bad guys." Spinel smiled; her eyes crazed once more. "You understand right? They were evil. They abused me. They hurt my brother. They deserved to die!"
Though her voice sounded the same, Shinsou would have denied that the person in front of him was Spinel. What used to be a kind smile looked deranged in the dim light. He tried to reason with himself, there was no way Spinel would be capable of this. Three people, all dead. One Nomu and two of the researchers they were looking for. Surely, she wasn't the one who killed them, right?
The hero was at a loss as he stayed on guard. Whoever she was, she was insane. "No one deserves to die. They were supposed to go to jail. What you just did made you no better than them." he glared at her; his words were cool as if he were stating obvious facts.
Spinel frowned. "W-what? No. That's not..." She took a step towards Shinsou. "You understand, right? Shinsou, you know I'm right. They did deserve to die. Right? You know what they did!" her words became desperate as she stumbled towards him. "Shinsou, you agree with me, don't you?" Her legs felt like jelly as she fell to her knees in front of him. She held out a hand to reach him.
Shinsou took a step back. "Stay away from me -I don't know who you are anymore." he looked down at her blood covered body in disdain and disgust. Whoever was in front of him was not Spinel. Not the Spinel he knew. His best friend was gone.
The crazed look in Spinel's eyes faded out to dull green ones as if she had just realized the gravity of her actions. No one made any sudden movements. She had just killed her parents and enjoyed it. She loved every sound of their suffering, how their flesh felt between her teeth. Spinel's stomach dropped. The dark little voices in her head cackled as they ran rampant through her mind. She didn't want this. "O-oh. I see." Spinel stood up unaided and brushed off imaginary dirt, only to succeed in spreading the blood more. "O-of course that's only natural" Her voice broke at the end of her sentence. She looked into his indigo eyes, the eyes that once looked at her with mirth and laughter were now replaced with bitterness and disgust.
Spinel backed up from the pair not looking away and retrieved her yoyos. She smiled. It was a sad smile of acceptance. One that would inevitably haunt Shinsou's dreams. Spinel turned tail and ran. She rushed outside into freezing cold air. It hurts. Spinel felt like she was spinning, as if the ground had melted under her feet. Once she was far enough, she collapsed onto her hands and knees, her breathing shallow and quick. That night Spinel had sealed her fate.
--------
The hero turned towards his purple haired intern. "Do you know her?" He asked as he began to check the carnage that was left in the mysterious girl's wake.
