Spottedkit raced off, her paws trying to keep up to her speed. As she peered out from the nursery, gazing around at all the busy cats, she heard pawsteps from behind her. as she whipped her head around, she gazed up seeing the sight of her mother.
The Queen's fur was smooth and rippled, her eyes full with exhaustion, her mother eyed her. "Spottedkit, where are you heading out in such a hurry?" She asked, spottedkit looked down at her paws nervous to answer her mothers question afraid she would hiss at her.
"I'm just going to explore since I have had my eyes opens for a couple of quarter-moons now." She paused, looking up finally facing her mother. But she had no expression, Spottedkit felt uneasy. Her mother's gaze felt like flame piercing into her fur. "Please, mother. Father said he would see me after the patrol... well, I want to wait for him."
Her mother gave a curt nod, "fine just be back when he arrives."
Spottedkit jumped, excitement thrilled inside her. She muzzled her mother, feeling the softness and warmth from her, "thank you!" She turned around heading out, she padded next to the fresh-kill pile. She could smell all sorts of prey, making her dribble with hunger. But her mother's words distracted her, be back when he arrives. Her paws twitched nervously while waiting, she wondered how long it would take for the patrol to come back. She looked down at her paws, her eyes wandering off to a rock. Spottedkit couldn't take her eyes off it. A spark lit inside her, making her hit the rock with her paw.
With a little giggle, she started playing with the rock, tossing it around. Spottedkit made sure her mother wasn't watching or seeing her play instead of just waiting for her father to come back from patrols. Spottedkit snorted hitting the rock, what's so bad with just having a little fun, she huffed, shrugging the thought off. She trotted over to the rock, lifting her paw and then hitting it again. Watching it fly over the camp hitting a kit in the head, flinching she saw the kit fall on the ground.
"Oh no-" she raced over, staring down at the kit. "I'm so sorry!" the tom groaned with pain, he looked up at her frowning.
"That hurt!" He hissed, standing up. "Don't you know it's dangerous to throw rocks around!" Rubbing his head with his paw, Spottedkit gazed at him. Her mind was full of curiosity at the kit, then realising that the Tom was staring at her still.
"I'm sorry! I didn't mean to... I just got a bit bored." She paused her light leafy green eyes gazing on him. The Tom was a light brown speckle kit, "my name is spottedkit!" She smiled putting her paw out, a spark flashed inside her as the Tom put his paw out with hers.
"I'm uh, frecklekit." The Tom shook his pelt with embarrassment, licking his chest fur.
Spottedkit giggled, nudging him. "You aren't that outgoing, are you?" Frecklekit blinked at her with confusion, he looked the other way gazing into the medicine cats den. "Not really... I'm just waiting for my mother. She said I had to stay quiet." Spottedkit put her head to the side, as a tall fluffy queen padded out. Her fur pricked up, "frecklekit what are you doing?" Her voice sounded calm but annoyed. The kit looked up at his mother with a worried gaze. She licked him, then flinched. "Why do you have a bump on your head?!"
Frecklekit turned to Spottedkit, his eyes lightened up with guilt as she looked up at the queens amber gaze. She could feel a warmth inside the overprotective mother, as she was about to apologise she could hear her father in the background. She jumped up racing off back near the fresh-kill pile. Listening to her father's voice, she felt calm as she sat down..."I did a pretty nice catch, didn't I?" Fuzzypelt purred proudly as spiderfang rolled his eyes, Spottedkit felt guilty because she was invading in their conversation.
"You better shut your mouth, fuzzypelt!" Spiderfang hissed, his fur pricked.
Spottedkit took a step back, fuzzypelt hissed back then turned his head around to gaze toward Spottedkit. His eyes widened, and his fur smoothed down laying the prey down slow as if it was still alive.
Spottedkit looked up at her father as he faced her, she felt something spark in his eyes as he muzzled her with love. "That tickles!" She squeaked with a tiny little giggle, fuzzypelt licked her with a grin as they both heard pawsteps from behind. Larksong gazed heavily at her, then looked back up to fuzzypelt.
"Fuzzypelt!" She purred muzzling his cheek lightly, the Tom purred. As they all walked to the nursery, fuzzypelt sat down near the end, she climbed up onto her fathers back yowling "storytime!"
She thumped on the ground landing on her chin, as larksong lifted her off the ground. "Well, our little warrior needs her sleep."
Spottedkit cried, "but it's not even sun down!!"
Fuzzypelt laughed with a snort, he looked up at larksong. "Just one, then she can sleep." The queen, gaze darkened, Spottedkit could feel the den getting warmer and tense, as larksong finally nodded.
She laid down with a thump, looking the other way. Fuzzypelt shrugged, as he started telling his story.
