A Dark Night

Olver and I were on our normal walk, me just coming back from a mission. My silver mask was off, the both of us chatting away.

"It was so exciting! I... can't really say the details, but it was exciting!"
"Really? Im glad you made it out of there! How are you enjoying the Emperors coven?"

"It's great! I get paid, fed, part of me is really glad I'm in it..." I smile a little as a look down at our holding hands.
"And the other part?" Olver looked a me, a glint of curiosity in his eyes.

"Part of me just wants to leave, get out. I still want to be free, do what I wanted when I wanted...I-"
It's been awhile since I lived for myself. It was strange! I'm not confident enough if I could do that again...

"Well, um- hey! At least I'm here with you..." Olver smiled. "And um...I've been meaning to ask you something"

"..?"

"(Y/N), will... will you go out with me!?" Olver shut his eyes tightly, his cheeks flushing with color.

My eyes widened. He... he liked me? And he wants to date me!? I- ...I've never had a date before. Should I-

I can feel my face heat up. I stand there, hesitant before I finally spoke...

"Y..Yes! Yeah! I'll date you!" I smile brightly as Olver opened his eyes. We both smile and hug. "I've uh...I've never dated anyone before.." I mumbled

"Me neither.."

We both giggle and link arms, continuing our walk as a new couple

After what we decided to call a date, I went back to the castle, sitting in my room. I sat at the desk, writing on a scroll with my own quill. Just something asked of me for my new role as the Golden Guards apprentice.

As soon as I finished I got up and went to bed. I was tired, unable to sleep earlier because of the mission and hanging out with Oliver... I yawn, turning to my side as I drift to sleep.

Today, I have the day off til tonight. So i obviously go see Olver-

I tell him more about the job, him just listening. It's nice to be able to chat with him... but of course there are secrets I must keep about the job.

The dates always went like this, Olver asks me something, normally about myself or my life, and then I'll ask him something. We agreed this would make things easier for us to get to know eachother better and lead towards better dates!

We walk through Bonesborough, Olver walking me to the castle.

I sigh, "then we're gonna leave tonight to somewhere for something. Sometimes I just want a week to myself! Oh- and you, of course" I giggled.
Olver smiled. "Don't worry (Y/N), im sure that week will come soon! It's only a matter of...time."
He placed a hand on my shoulder as if to reasure me. I nod and smile back. "I better go inside then. See you soon" I give him a kiss on the cheek before going inside the castle. Olver waved as I walked away...

As soon as I got inside, I was greeted by the Golden Guard. "(Y/N)! There you are! Where were you-"
Before I could say anything he spoke again, "ah- nevermind. Get dressed we're going!" He pushed me to my room.

"Alright! Alright! I can get there myself!" I sighed. "Just give me a minute" I walk off to my room and come back wearing my Silver Guard uniform and mask, holding my staff.

The two of us fly off into the sky as the Golden Guard feeds me the details.

"We're heading to the left hand to retrieve some silk webs in a swamp. It's located somewhere on the knuckles so we'll have to be quick about it"

The knuckles. A place considered to be one of the most dangerous places. The creatures there were unknown, dangerous. The plants said to be all poisonous...

I nod, "This is worse than that house we went into" I said.
The Golden Guard nodded in agreement. 

Soon the Hand was in our sights, just a couple more hours til we're there.

A huge sky creature comes out of no where, flapping it's wings way to close to us. The force of the wind coming from it was enough to interupt our flight, sending us flying into the sky.

The Golden Guard was quick to adjust himself, able to stay on his staff. But I couldn't in time. The wind knocked my staff out of my grasp, sending my hurtling towards the ground. "GOLDEN GUARD!!" I screamed, holding my hand out as Hunter looked down at me. He gasped and dived down on his staff. But he was too late...

The last thing I see was the Golden Guard, miles up in the sky trying to reach me only to be blocked by leaves and branches. And then...darkeness...
