The return of 'the smiley killer' and the interview

the morning of the next day was very similar to the one the day before. it was raining heavily, wind was extremely strong and a compilation loud thunders accompanied the morning weather. just guessing by the strength of the rain it was more than obvious that the weather would remain the same.

the three boys living in the mansion by themselves woke up around the same time, meeting downstairs where they just nodded at each other and sat down on the couch. Naomi turned on the TV, scrolling through the channels, keeping The Simpsons on.

Nagito was scrolling through Instagram, minutes later, receiving a link from Fuyuhiko. the link was legit and it led to this local news article with the headline 'The smiley killer returns'.
the article was published a day ago, just a few hours after him and Hajime returned from the murder scene.

'The smiley killer - formally known as Nagito Komaeda, had striked again.' was the sentence under the headliner.
there was a photo of the mugshot the police took of him after loosing the trial.

Nagito chuckled at the mugshot. on the photo, his hair was still messy, but it reached to the tip of his nose, basically covering his eyes. a playful smirk was on his lips, his nose bridge was wrinkled up because of the grin. he wore the casual, orange baggy prison uniform. the top of his head reached the 5'9" mark on the height board behind him. the sign, he held with his name, case number and crime, was slightly tilted because of the way he held it.
on the next mudshot, which was side profile, his hair was put into a ponytail. he remembered that one of the cops suggested to put his hair up which they did, forcefully. he remembered feeling really angry, which was why on the next photo shoot he had his eyebrows furrowed.

the article started off with a short story of how he got arrested and the approximate number of the murders (87). he never admitted the real number as he didn't remember the exact number, but it was probably more than 100.

the middle of the article was the most interesting part: 'the whole murder was seen by a citizen of this city; Yasuhiro Hagakure. he claims that Komaeda was accompanied by a masked man who didn't participate in the murder. the witness said that the masked man didn't speak much to Komaeda, he even turned around when the murder happened. the two men then got on the black car and drove away.
the victim was staged the usual Komaeda-style; simply leaning against the wall, multiple stab wounds in their chest, Komaeda's name carved into the victim's wrist and a smiley face on the victim's cheek in their very own blood.'

the albino rolled his eyes unnoticeably. they wrote almost the same thing they usually did before he got arrested.
however, the last sentence was basically a warning to be aware and safe. so casual.

Hajime peeked over Nagito's shoulder to see what he's been reading. Nagito handed him his phone to read the full article.

once the brunet finished, he had raised eyebrows as he handed the albino his phone back.
Nagito giggled, "I told you they'll know,"

"I mean, yeah," Hajime shrugged and looked back at the TV on which was playing the beginning of another The Simpsons episode.

"whatcha gigglin' at?" Naomi looked back at them with a pout. he obviously didn't enjoy someone interrupting one of his most favorite shows.
Nagito showed him the article, letting the boy read it from his phone.

Naomi read the whole thing, then he scrolled up to the beginning of the article. for a couple of seconds he just stared at the mugshots, looking at Nagito and then back at the mugshots, "why the fuck did you cut your hair," he demanded an answer. he gave his best friend his phone back.
