Three days prior the departure of his love Dresden went unto Tiffany & Company at the Plaza. Looking around he was surprised by how much changed since his earliest memory of this place. Howbeit he was one of many who were ignorant the boardwalk in Shreveport served as inspiration for this new layout. Another point of ignorance was the new owner desired for Olde World Italia to shine bright. Hence why all exteriors necessitated a motif suggestive of antiquity. Notion being plaza be true in flavour unto the etymological Italian root piazza. Three notes must here be made about the Country Club Plaza. (A) Name officially changed unto La Piazza to honour it being a major marketplace within Westport Kansas City. (B) Functional obsolescence was avoided completely and entirely. (C) The guiding directive for marketing was to avoid contempt bred from comfort.
What he beheld was all inroads like Wyandotte were completely removed then replaced with terracotta bricks. Each median used for planting was expanded to create a garden of indigenous grass, trees, and other flora. Where sidewalks and building walls permitted were now arcades similar in appearance to an almost common sight in Italia. Motor vehicles were kept on the outer roads either by arcade or a waist high wall. Benches were widely dispersed allowing pedestrians to enjoy the garden whilst preventing clusters of people. The uppermost section was converted into a boxlike area centre of which made into garden with walkways of terra cotta bricks. Already existent roof by the gate was connected unto new arcade roof. Facades were altered to maintain a harmonised theme.
Tallest building of second level was converted from office space into an outdoor equipment shoppe. From floor to ceiling along centre of rear wall was a climbing wall. This piece of equipment offered three difficulty levels novice, rookie, and veteran. Natural transition from one stage to the next was incorporated into this equipment.
Tomfoolery's was restored unto its original location whilst Three Dog Bakery moved into a shoppe on second level. Indeed every available space not allotted for garden or footpath was made available for shoppes. Each retailer committed to catering unto various peoples instead of one exclusive clientele. Palace Cinema was restored whilst an indoor theatre was built with its back shared by an outdoor theatre.
Forever XXI was removed unto a smaller location whilst Cheesecake Factory closed its doors. However severe renovation and remodelling combined these two into one entity. The former Forever XXI complete with Broadway entrance was converted into a restaurant called Quatre-Bras. What once was a road of sorts unto entrance for the shoppe became enclosed garden viewed only by select patrons. These be them who chose dining in the Red Room. Centre of this select room was a white marble fountain with a lower basin to catch over flow from upper basin. Thus there was total of two basins with dark Belgium chocolate pouring from fount centred in middle of first basin. Thus this two part fount was similar unto a fondue fountain with exceedingly excellent care taken to ensure all guests were able partakers in this delight. Entrance for Quatre-Bras was via out of doors dining area once employed by Cheesecake Factory. Former secondary Entrance was converted into an emergency exit.
Only BD's Mongolian Barbecue and Quatre-Bras were exempt from the imposed Italian motif. Former provided a harmoniously blended facade evoking the Far East. BD's also replaced PF Chang's. Latter exemplified a Spanish influence with its face considering the tower reflecting.
Dresden was like many when learning how much changed at the Plaza since 2008. Then there be the surprise all restaurants were kosher serving only one hundred percent organic foods.
