Lan Zhan quite enjoyed the time that he had with Wei Ying in the library. It would seem that the other was quite restless, and according to Wei Ying he found it quite difficult to sit for long periods of time, especially in silence, because it was always so boring. He had nothing to really occupy his mind. Wei Ying did seemed to have endless thoughts and Lan Wangji supposed that having nowhere to put them sort of put a dapper on his ability to handle long ended lectures, like his Uncle's. He supposed that was probably why Wei Ying ended up getting thrown out several times. It was expected if he had difficulty dealing with long winded lectures, as Lan Zhan knew that his Uncle was exactly one of those teachers, and therefore it could be rather difficult. However, what Lan Wangji had also figured out is if a person gave him a determined task, and he did manage to focus on it, he was endless in his ability to get it done. He just had to set his mind to it, which was rather difficult if it was not something that interested him or benefited him to do something in some way.
"Wei Ying," Lan Zhan uttered softly, glancing to his side. Wei Ying hummed looking up from where he had been leaning over Lan Wangji to stare at what he was reading. Lan Zhan hesitated a bit, but reached out and pulled Wei Ying from the side and into him. Wei Ying startled a gasp, but a small smile curved over his features, and he leaned against Lan Zhan willingly, sighing as he did so, glad to have this moment with him.
He had not thought...originally...when he would come to the Cloud Recesses, that someone would take over his entire mind, encompass all of his thoughts, and yet...here he was. Lan Wangji was more than anything that Wei Ying could hope for, and a shock to his system as it were. Staring at Lan Wangji, he knew, there would be nothing more for him, nothing else for him. Wei Ying felt it, could feel it deeply. Lan Wangji was the only person who he would ever hold with the same part of his heart. He may have just met him not a few weeks earlier, but he could not help it. Lan Wangji had ruined everyone else for him for...well...forever. He would never be able to want someone the same way. Lan Zhan was just...Lan Zhan. He could not even really give a good reason as to why Lan Zhan was...just everything, call it intuition. A gut feeling, a whisper in the back of his mind that warned him that Lan Wangji was it. There would not be another Lan Zhan, and if he was willing to deal with him, well, there was nothing that Wei Ying would not do for him.
They stayed in the Pavilion for...quite the time, Wei Ying just reading over Lan Wangji's shoulder, leaning against each other and enjoying the silence. It was comforting to them. They enjoyed the silence, and for once Wei Ying felt himself feel...settled. Calm and collected. He could stay here for hours and just be happy, well...he supposed that he had already done so. It was not long before they realized that it was getting late, and Wei Ying just stared at the outside in shock, having not expected it. It took him just a few more moments to realize that someone had come in with the door having been opened and he stared straight at Lan XiChen, who was watching them with a small amused smile. Wei Ying yelped, jumping behind Lan Wangji and pulling the other up hastily. Lan Wangji glanced at Wei Ying before noticing that his brother was standing before him.
"Young Master Wei, I thought I would be able to find you with Wangji. It is good to see you are indeed here. Wangji," Wei Ying bowed to XiChen, before glancing at Lan Zhan, who did nothing but stand and stare at him. Wei Ying did not know if he wanted to know how the other would be here with Lan Zhan. Was he truly so transparent that he had realized that something was going on? Perhaps so, he knew that XiChen was observant, that much was obvious. Still, if he knew...did Jiang Cheng know? He found himself doubted it, considering the fact that if it were the case he would have likely crashed into the pavilion to disturb them and such a thing had not happened, although he did not doubt that he had tried to find him. "It is getting late, you both missed the lunch hour. Uncle was quite worried about you Wangji, and told me to find you before you missed the dining hour as well." Wei Ying stared at XiChen with shocked eyes he turned to look at Lan Zhan who shared a similar state of surprise.
They had not realized that it had gotten late so quickly. Not to mention they had not even heard the bell ring. Wei Ying wanted to laugh in exasperation. He had not thought that someone could distract him so effectively. It would seem that he was wrong on so many occasions though, regarding the young master Lan that he supposed this was not really that much of a surprise either. They had been quite focused reading random texts. Well, Wei Ying was reading random texts, he was sure that Lan Wangji had some sort of order to what he had been reading, but Wei Ying was just reading whatever Lan Zhan had stacked next to him. He did not really care for what it was about, instead just leaning on Lan Wangji was enough to hold his attention to what the other was reading. It had seemed to be texts that they were supposed to review for class.
Wei Ying had a sneaking suspicion that Lan Zhan done that one purpose. Wei Ying was definitely not liable to go reading the texts himself, and he was almost dead sure that Lan Wangji would have already finished all of the reading material that they had been assigned, just off of the type of person that he was. Still, he would not complain. He almost found it adorable that Lan Wangji would do such a thing, and wanted to smile but remembered that they were in company. Still, he was not entirely sure that they were the texts that Lan Qiren had assigned anyways. Mostly because he had not really paid attention to the list that had been handed.
He had a sneaking suspicion though, and he would ask about it later because right now he was not sure whether Lan Wangji would be comfortable...admitting...Well...After all cutsleeve relations were not always well thought of, and Lan Wangji really only deserved the best. He did not want to bring the boy down, and if he was not ready to admit that he...had a caring towards him, well he would most certainly not force it. He knew what it was like to fear someone's family reacting negatively.
"XiongZhang," Lan Zhan said politely, turning towards Wei Ying and tilting his head forwards, before walking ahead. Wei Ying walked rather closely behind him, trying to blend in with the two jades, even though he knew that it was...unlikely. They did not get stopped whilst getting to the lunch room, for which Wei Ying was grateful. It was nice, to be able to walk with Lan Zhan, even if he was nervous because XiChen was there.
Wei Ying had intended to fully go over to the Yunmeng table when they got into the hall. It was not as though there was dedicated seating, but most of the sects tended to sit together, not wanting to deviate, for whatever reason. Wei Ying thought it was stupid, but he did not really care enough to do anything. Yet, before he could separate himself from Lan Zhan, the other snatched his wrist. In front of the entire hall. Wei Ying stared at Lan Zhan with big eyes, glancing up towards the table where Lan Qiren was watching them, and saw his scowl, noting XiChen's slightly amused smile, and the shock of the other guest disciples, and Lan disciples as Lan Wangji proceeded to DRAG him to an open table, and push him down so that they were seated together.
That was certainly one way to make a statement.
