TWELVE

After April opened the door for me, she hugged me, and we sat on the couch eating Poptarts like old times.

"So what is it you want to tell me?" April asked. "Oh, and I want to hear about every single thing you did from the minute I left."

"April, don't go crazy. You're probably going to freak out. Don't get me wrong, you're going to love it but it will completely take you by surprise—"

"Mary, get to the point!" April said, as she interrupted my rant.

"Drew and I are dating," I said, shutting my eyes.

When I opened them, her jaw was dropped but I could see a smile, and her eyes were wider than I've ever seen them before.

"YOU AND DREW? DREW AND YOU?!" She screamed with joy. "Wow, I'm so happy for you two!!"

She hugged me tightly, and asked, "How did this happen? I could never have pictured it! Also, you have me to thank!! You were complaining after I told you about you two working together for my wedding."

"I know," I chuckled. "Thanks, April."

"So...tell me," she said, waiting impatiently.

"Well, uh, I mean we kind of got closer the more we worked together. And this all started when I mentioned your parents' house, and he had the key, so we went because they were out of town," I said, trying not to getting too detailed. "Well, next thing Drew and I just started making out and..."

After I left the sentence hanging, it took about a minute for April to catch on. She wasn't exactly the smartest.

She scowled, "Ew, I do NOT need to hear about that, but I really am excited that my two favorite people are together."

I shrugged, and smiled.

"Where is he now?" April asked.

"He's throwing Malcolm a bachelor party, remember?" I said. "Now I have to get started on yours."

I got up, and headed towards the door before April stopped me.

"Uh, Mary. Try not to have too much alcohol," April said.

"What? Why not? It woudn't be a bachelorrette party without drinks," I asked, confused.

She soflty smiled, and slowly said, "Mary, I'm pregnant."

I dropped my purse. "Omigosh, April! Stop, are you really?"

She nodded, smiling even wider.

"Aaaah, I'm so happy for you! See what honeymoons do. We better have your wedding fast!"

"I know, and thank you so much," she said, hugging me.

"Does Malcolm and Drew know?" I asked.

"Malcolm knows. Drew doesn't yet. I'll tell him late, when I have a chance to see him," she said.

I hugged her again, "Good luck, and your welcome." I winked.

After I left, I started thinking about what it would be like to deal with a bi-polar and hormonal April for 9 months...

"Drew," I giggled, "Stop that tickles!"

He stopped sucking on my neck, and asked me how everything went after I told April.

I laughed to myself, thinking about it. "Oh, she couldn't believe it, but she was really excited about it."

"Really?" he chuckled.

God, I love that chuckle.

"Yea," I said, trying to be cautious not to tell him about April's pregnancy. He needs to hear that from his own sister.

"Good," he said, before kissing my forehead.

We sat silently, eating lunch, before I blurted out, "Why don't you head over there?"

He furrowed his eyeborws. "April's house?"

I nodded, "Mhm, go see your sister! Talk to her and everything. Catch up."

"Are you hiding something?"

I shook my head a little too soon.

"Mary?" he said, not too sure I'm telling the truth. "Why do you want me to get out so much? What's going on?"

"No, no, no, Drew, it's not that. I mean, your sister has something to tell you," I said, a little shocked. "Why, do you think I'd cheat on you? I'm lucky enough to have one guy like me, where would I get another?"

"Come on, look at you. Every guy wants you." He put his arm around me, "Remember, your mine."

"Okay, I'll remember," I said, before he pecked my lips and left.

I almost chuckled thinking about where he'd get the idea I'm cheating on him. At first it made me wonder about him, but "I'm his" and "he's mine."

How could anyone possibly cheat so early in a relationship? I knew it was impossible so I didn't think of it anymore. And I wasn't even suspicious, I was just a little curious.

After five minutes of watching a boring movie, I grabbed my car keys, and headed to April's apartment.

It usually takes about ten minutes to get there, so Drew should've been here a while ago.

After I found a parking spot, I couldn't find his car anywhere, and started getting worried. Where was he??

After waiting in the car for fifteen minutes, and no sign of Drew, I was almost starting to go crazy.

I wanted to call him, but what would I say without him thinking I don't trust him?

I saw headlights of a car coming towards my car, so I ducked. The car parked a few spaces next to mine, and when I saw who got out, I was relieved.

It was Drew, with Aprils' favorite food in the whole world: grilled chicken.

I let out a huge breath. So that's why it took him a long time.

I drove home calmly, and went straight to bed knowing Drew wasn't doing anything wrong. A smile escaped my lips, and I shut my eyes, falling asleep.

When I awoke, it was 6:26 in the morning, and I felt a lot of weight over my waist. I could still smell Drew's cologne and didn't even need to turn around to see it was him.

Drew and I gave each other keys to our apartments a few days ago. It's not that weird, because we don't need to "get to know each other" first since we've known each other for quite some time.

He was still asleep; I could tell by his even breaths and his loose grip on my waist. I quietly got up from the bed and headed towards the bathroom, trying not to wake him up.

After I stepped out, my breath smelling minty fresh, I saw him open his eyes.

I smiled, and crawled back into bed, next to him.

He wrapped his arm around me and closed his eyes again.

In his husky, deep voice, he said, "G'morning, beautiful."

I softly chuckled, "Morning, handsome."

He pecked my cheek, and rested his head on my shoulder. "I don't want to get up today."

"Me neither," I said, intertwining my fingers with his.

"I just feel like being here with you," he continued, mumbling now.

"Same here,"

"Mary?"

"Yes?"

"I love you."
