"She should be coming from that terminal," Drew said, pointing to the terminal where people were coming out from her plane.
I squealed, "She's going to come out any minute!"
We kept looking for her curly, brown hair and Malcolm's green carry-on bag.
I turned around looking for a nearby Starbucks, and asked Drew if he wanted anything.
He turned to the little shop, and replied, "Hmm, no, that's okay."
"You guys are too busy looking at menus then you are looking for your favorite person in the world," a familiar voice said.
I swiftly turned around and jumped up and down when I saw April standing next to Malcolm with her arms wide open and a smirk on her cherry red lips.
"Aww, April!" I said, giving her a huge hug, "I missed you so much. Don't ever leave me alone again!"
April hit Drew lightly in the chest, and jokingly said, "Oh, was this one bothering you to death?"
Drew and I exchanged looks and slightly smiled.
I shrugged, and answered, "Sorta."
It wasn't lying, he bothered me a lot. Bothered.
When Drew dropped off April and Malcolm at their house, it was just the two of us in his car. Normally, I would've talked to April for hours complaining about how she left me with Drew, but things are obviously different now. Also, April told me she wanted to sleep since the plane ride back was killing her.
Drew spoke out of nowhere, "Sorta, huh?" He said, referring to him bothering me.
"It's true!" I said, defending myself.
He let out a chuckle. "You're not always a ball of sunshine, I gotta say."
I crossed my arms, "I know, I'm not saying I am."
He put his hand on my knee, holding the steering wheel with his left hand. "Well, why stop now? We can bother each other all we want," he smirked.
I blushed, and pushed his hand off. "Should we tell April?"
He furrowed his eyebrows, and continued thinking. "I don't know."
"Well, I can't keep this from her forever..." I said, unsure.
"Wait, so you want to tell her?" He said slowly and unsure, as well.
"Um, yes?" I replied as a question.
A small smile set on his lips, "It feels kind of weird, I'm not going to lie. Like, this is official. I actually like you."
"I know. Like how could I have hated you just a month ago and actually like you now?"
We both laughed, and I realized he took me back to his place.
It was almost seven at night. April and Malcolm wanted a late flight so they could spend some of the day vacationing.
After I walked in his door, I helped myself to his comfotable leather couch like I always did and turned on the TV.
He loosened his tie and sat next to me. After he slipped off his shoes, he softly put his head on my shoulder and lifted his legs on the couch, closing his eyes.
He let out a tired sigh, and eventually yawned. He looked up at me and saw me staring.
He smirked, "Hi, Mary."
I blushed and looked away, thankful for the dim lighting in this room. Surfing through the channels, I felt him grab my hand that was resting on my lap, and he started leaving little kisses on my fingers, my palm, and my wrist.
I closed my eyes; it just felt so good.
"I like you, Mary," he whispered more to himself than me.
Before I could say anything, he said, "I love saying that. It feels more real everytime I say it."
I bent down and kissed him on the cheek, "I like you, too, Drew."
Completely ignoring the TV now, he said with a smile, "Remember that time, a long time ago, when you and April went to Johnny's birthday party?"
I nodded, thinking about how excited I was to see Johnny.
"Well, remember how I didn't go 'cause we got in a fight?" He chuckled, looking down. "The fight was about you."
"Me?" I asked, honestly surprised.
He nodded. "He was talking about how he was going to completely take advantage of you if you two got together, and," he shrugged, "I don't know, I guess I thought that it was my job to annoy you and not let anyone else hurt you."
I was in awe. "Oh, my God, Drew! I didn't know that."
He shrugged, trying to hide a blush.
"Since you're kind of clearing the air, I have something to say, too," I began.
Drew looked up at me, interested.
"This may not come as a shock, but after you hit puberty, I was secretly drooling all over you...you know, when you were'nt being a jackass. Which was like 1% of the time."
He chuckled, "After a while, I regretted being mean to you, but I couldn't just stop. I felt like I had a reputation."
I playfully rolled my eyes, and cuddled up against him. He held me tightly, but comfortably.
And after he said he didn't want anyone to hurt me, I felt completely safe and cozy around him.
