SIX
April finally called. She was telling me about how much fun Costa Rica is and that she is definitely going to live there someday.
However, I didn't want her to leave me just yet.
"So, Mary, how is the planning going? Please tell me that you and Drew are not fighting every second of it," she asked.
I chuckled, "The planning's good. I'm not going to tell you everything; it's a surprise! Unfortunately, Drew and I constantly bicker, though."
I heard her sigh, so I changed the topic.
"How's Malcolm? Is he loving Costa Rica as much as you?" I asked.
"Oh, yeah!" She said, while giggling. "He is really into the activities and everything."
"Oh, really? That's good. I'm glad you guys are having fun," I said, truthfully.
"I really miss you, Mare. I have to go, someone else needs to use the phone. Bye, I love you."
"Bye, April, love you too. Have fun."
With that, I hung up.
I was still in bed, only wearing my maroon tank top and cotton shorts. I climbed out and fixed myself some coffee.
It was really nice out today, so I stepped out on my balcony where there was a small tree and a cream-colored couch behind a small glass table.
I comfortably sat on the couch snuggling up to the pillow my grandmother bought me a few years ago.
Looking out the buildings in front of me, I smiled. I wish I could be out here more often. I was always happy out here, mostly because of this view.
A few minutes later, I heard a man's voice from behind me say, "What the fuck, Mary?"
I jumped, startled, and turned around. I almost dropped my mug because of Drew.
"What?" I asked, baffled.
"I knocked, like, eight times and you didn't answer!" He said, his eyes wide.
"I'm sorry?" I said. "Wait a second, how did you get in, then?"
He shrugged, "I'm used to locking myself out of my apartment so I just--"
I gasped, "You broke in? What if I wasn't home? Or just taking a shower? Or sleeping?!"
"Why are you freaking out?"
"You don't just sneak in someone's house if they don't invite you in!"
He backed away, "Okay, okay. Lesson learned."
"Good!" I yelled, walking inside, making my way past him.
When I turned around I caught him looking at my butt. Shit! I totally forgot I was wearing my pajamas.
I scowled at him, and jogged to my room. What a pig.
When I came back out, wearing actual clothes, I asked what he was doing here.
"Remember? Yesterday, you told me we had to go food testing or something like that?"
I tilted my head back. I completely forgot about that. "Oh, right."
He took his keys out of his pocket, "I'm driving,"
"Okay, hold on," I said, while going to grab my purse.
My hair was extremely frizzy, so I quickly french braided it and put on my heels.
When we got to his car, he asked, "What food are we testing?"
