"I'll have the dessert of the day."

Jay told the girl, passing the menu back to her.She nodded her head and disappeared behind the kitchen door,to prepare the dish.

In the kitchen

She placed the menu aside as he grab his apron and put it on,ready to start baking.

"Didn't know he'll actually come here."

He chuckled to himself.

"You know him?"

She asked.

"A close friend of mine.I told him to come."

Heeseung answered, tying his apron. She hummed a response and proceeded to take out all the equipments, placing them on the table.

"So what are we making today?"

She looked through the window of the kitchen, examining the other who was on the other side.

"Crepe cake."

—————————

Jay sat on the tall chair, fingers playing with his necklace that was given by his girlfriend. He didn't seem to care about anything.Too lazy to ask what the dish was,he actually didn't really mind whatever it'll be,he just came to this place cause Heeseung told him to.

"Why am I even here?"

He questioned himself. Why did he bother coming all the way here to some unknown place to eat some dessert? What has this place have to offer him that will help solve his problem? Will eating a dessert solve anything?

Instead of thinking about his relationship problem,he was busy thinking about this weird place.

The fact that there was no one and barely any staffs made the atmosphere kind of intimidating as silence engulfed the place. It wasn't like the bars he usually go too, loud music, dozens of people around and having a blast. The quietness and stillness made him feel uneasy as he was not use to it.

Maybe he should leave this place.

Dragging his chair,he stood up,making sure he did not leave anything behind.

"Leaving already?"

She called out to him as he approached the exit.Stopping his feet,he turned around to face her.

"You haven't even tried it yet."

Raising the plate higher, she showed him the dish that was prepared for him.

"It'll be a waste to just throw it away.Don't you think?"

Feeling a little reluctant and embarrassed,he returned back to his seat. She place the plate on the counter, pushing it in front of him, smiling brightly.

A Crepe Cake.

Now that he was closer,he could properly see the dish.

A slice of matcha flavoured crepe cake was placed in the middle.Multiple layers stacked on top of one another, creating a beautiful stack. In between was fresh whip cream, that held everything together. The sides were decorated with a few strawberries and chocolate to fill the plate. On the top of the cake,Matcha powder was powdered, along with bits and pieces of cookies to give it a crunch.

It looked to good to eat.The strong smell of green tea and matcha filled the whole area,as if he was in a field. The smell of nature was soothing and relaxing.

"Today's Dessert of the Day is the Matcha Crepe Cake.Enjoy."

She cheerfully introduced her masterpiece, well,Heeseung's as well.

He smiled in return, forced but tried not to look impolite.

Returning to the sink, she continued to clean and dry the cups with a towel.

Picking up the fork,he cut a piece of the cake.As the fork sliced through the multiple layers, some cream flowed out to the sides.

However, the crepe cake maintained itself, layers still stack on top of one another. The cream must've have helped it stick to one another, stabilising the cake.

Taking a bite, his teeth sank through the soft cake, cream exploding in his mouth. It gave of a slight bitter taste at first, due to the matcha powder on top.But it soon turned sweet,as the fresh cream blended well with the matcha flavoured crepes.

He popped a strawberry in his mouth, along with the chocolate.

Just the right amount of sourness, the strawberry gave a zesty taste,to get rid of the overpowering milk taste from the cream.

Everything matched well, the cake tasted delicious.

"The cake's pretty stable isn't it?"

Her sudden voice startled him out of his daydreaming.

She walked in front of him, wiping the cup.

"It's still in one piece."

He thought of giving her an answer, but he didn't know what to say,he didn't get what she was trying to do.

"Do you know why?"

She asked,interrupting his meal.

"Probably the cream."

He simply replied,without much thought.

"Silly."

She giggled, earning a glare from Jay.

"It's because I made sure the base is stable.Every layer contributes to making it stable, every layer is important.Without any layer,it'll just be a slab of cream. What will happen to it then?"

Jay had stopped eating, listening to every word she said.He gave a thought, but didn't give an answer.

"It'll topple,right?cause there's nothing to give it a grip and a structure."

Heeseung said appearing from the back, standing next to her.

"Mind if I join?"

Leaning against the counter,he had joined their conversation.

Jay was a little surprised to see his friend. He didn't know he worked here.

"Bingo! It'll topple, just like a relationship without proper understanding between each other."

She snapped her fingers.

Jay froze, for a moment. He realised what she meant.

"If there's always unsolved problems and misunderstandings not cleared,a barrier will start to form between two people. That's when trust falls. As time passes, more fuel will be added to the fire, the snowball rolling downhill will get bigger and bigger.

By the time,it'll be to late to save it.Everything will topple, crumbling down. The cake will no longer exist. There will only be a puddle of cream around it."

She continued.

He understood. He now know what he needed to do to fix his relationship.

Understanding, the basis and foundation to build a relationship. That was what's missing and he needed to confront, before it's too late. They needed to talk about their problems, too let them understand each other better,to be able to find a solution that will help both of them.
