Marcus sat in the passenger's seat this time, letting Cassius drive. The two had just left the Lows, and Cassius at least couldn't be happier.
"Good people, awful living conditions," he commented as he turned back into the city. "Cannot fathom how they live so contently in such squalor. Poor things."
"They don't have a choice," Marcus said. "The house was quite clean, you just think anything without laminate floors and vaulted ceilings is uninhabitable."
"And you don't?" Cassius let out a hearty laugh, "we were both born with silver spoon in hand. By the way, you know it was there, right?"
"I do," admitted Marcus.
"That girl lied through her teeth," Cassius said.
"I didn't expect her to tell us," said Marcus. "I knew the second time we met she had it all along. Children are naive, and woefully transparent, even when they think they're not."
"The little sister told me," Cassius said. "Well, she told me a lot of things, like how many bugs she's eaten." Cassius took his eyes off the road for a moment to give his brother a sideways glance, "and we're not taking it back now... why?"
"It was never about retrieving it," said Marcus. "I just needed to know who it fell to. Falsifying evidence to present to the Administration will be easy, what I want to see is what she does with this. If she even does anything at all. It'll be... interesting to see how this plays out."
"You're leaving quite a bit up to chance," Cassius sighed. "You know I hate it when you do this."
