Chapter 23
"Rigan, can we please talk?"
Drained. That's the exact word that I'm feeling right now. My mouth was zipped when I woke up. I never let a single word escape my lips because I didn't want to engage in any conversations with Paris. I'm so tired from last night, and with the help of my tiredness, I slept but still with a heavy heart. Right now, I'm starting my day as if I'm the only one in the house. Even though I'm exhausted, I still need to work. I can't use my husband's cheating on me as an excuse to not work despite although that's what my mind was thinking.
I was about to reach the doorknob when Paris held my arm, stopping me and forcing us to talk. Is my silence not enough as an answer for him? I didn't want to speak now because my mind was still trying to sink in everything.
"Please, Rigan," Paris begged, the reason why I blew out a deep sigh and turned my attention on him. There was desperation in his eyes, but no regrets, I guess.
While looking at him, I took my phone out and dialed Kristy's number. It rang several times before she answered the call. "Hello, Rigan? Nakaalis ka na ba?" She started the conversation.
"I'm sorry, Kristy, but can you cancel my schedule for today? I just need to take care of something important," I excused myself and there was a second of silence on the line. I even thought that she ended call.
"Thank you, Kristy, and I'm also sorry." When I ended the call, the smile disappeared quickly. I became cold in front of Paris, and I could see that he was bothered by it. I wasn't like this. This isn't me, but he pushed me from my limits.
"I'm going to explain—"
"I didn't cancel my schedule to listen to you, but for Lorelei. I'm already done talking to you; now, I want your mistress to explain to me," I cut him off, and that made his eyes widen. He even gulped because of my plan. I'm done talking with him; it's Lorelei's turn.
I planned to remove his arm, but he tightened his grip even more. "No, this is just between us. Lorelei is not involved in my mistake." I chuckled because of how he defended her mistress compared to me. I'm his wife, but he's being a total jerk.
"Stop defending your mistress.
