Still, he lay there. His sobs becoming more quiet, more muted as the rain got louder, and more heavier. Despite all that was happening, all the terrible feeling, all the regret, the pressure of the rain, there seemed to be a strange sort of... bliss in the moment. Something calming. On the other hand, how this was possible was hard to explain, if there was an answer, that is. Roy was tired and so, soon enough, he fell asleep, soaked and cold, on the wet grass.
xX back at Robert's house, still questioning life with the homies Xx
They were finally talking now. Not conversations, but, small talk. Stuff like: 'I'm gonna go home in five, my mum's probably making dinner right now' or 'Let's do something else now, and put this game away'. However, none of those sentences, started, let alone lead to, what happened just ten minutes ago. The only ones who seemed to be slightly suspicious that everyone was ignoring it was Skid and Pump, as they kept eye-ing each other and gesturing that something was up. Skid and Pump.. and Ross. Ross was probably the quietest of the bunch right now. Suddenly, but not startling, a light but simple knock came from the door. "Come in!" Robert said, and everyone looked to the door. It opened with a quiet creak, and a tall woman with dirty blonde hair came in. "Robert, it's dinner time now.." She looked at the children. "Oh! Would you guys like to join us?" She smiled sweetly at them. "Wanna come?" Robert chimed in, all of the four knowing that if they did, it would be awkward as hell. "No thank you miss! Me and Skid are going to the mall!" Skid and Pump zoomed out of the room, leaving everybody staring at each other like: 'What just happened?' and then 'You're looking at me like I know'. Ross broke the silence. "Actually, I think I'm going home now, I'm really tired." He fake-yawned. "Ah, ok.. Well, come down in five minutes Robert, please." Robert's mother almost turned, but faced the room again, as if she were looking for something. "Wasn't there another boy? Roy, was it?" She asked, looking back at Robert. "Oh- yeah. He left early.." Robert scratched his head. "Oh, ok! Bye guys.. and one more thing! Ross, dear, would you like to borrow an umbrella? It's pouring down outside!" She looked out of the window, you could even hear the heavy thumps of the rain, hitting the glass. "Nah, it's ok.. I think I'll be alright." He gave her a reassuring smile but to no use. "Aw, come on. That rain will give you a fever, quicker than you can say ballistic (Whitty reference included)!" Ross new that if saying no again was no use do he just gave in. "I mean I-" He paused. "Yeah, ok. Thanks a lot." He gave a tired smile. "Right, an umbrella will be waiting for you at the bottom of the stairs so leave when you feel like it!" She waved one more time at the boys before closing the door behind her and going down the stairs.
Now there was just silence, heavy, heavy silence. Until Robert finally spoke up. "Ross." The black haired boy, sitting next to him flinched before turning to him, knowing instantly what was to come. "What just happened.." Robert looked worried. "I don't know.. but I'm worried about Roy.. That's why I'm leaving." Ross stood up. Before facing Robert one more time. "Bye." He tried to say it in the most enthusiastic way possible. And then he left.
