Ryou had walked through the loud hallway of flooded teenagers. Everyone was too busy chatting with their friends to care about what period was next, what time it was, or even where their locker was. Ryou? Ryou didn't have friends, his friends were just Marik and Bakura, and in all honesty they're probably just pity friends. Ryou's only destiny in Domino City was to be the lonely ghost-loving boy no boy liked, but all the girls seemed to like. Consistently, it was always,

"I like ghosts too!"
"You're so pretty for a boy.. you're not gay, are you?"
Sometimes, they'd just stare at him with googly eyes and Ryou would give them a confused look as a response.

Ryou sighed and opened his locker, revealing all of his ghostly items, posters, (possibly overdue) books, and backpack. He looked up at the clock underneath the red school bell, to read that it was only 11:13 AM, and yet, Ryou still felt like he'd give out. Ryou didn't necessarily hate school, but he didn't like it either. It was a tiring (and quite lonely) process for the poor boy. He shoved his textbooks in his locker, and slammed it shut. He laid against it back first, and looked up at the roof, letting his mind and daydreams be his guide. As he closed his eyes, his daydreams began to take form, and show visuals. His daydreams gave a boy. A boy with blonde hair. Spiky. Had a bitch face, but even the daydreams knew that he must be sweet at heart. Had lavender eyes that could nearly see through the boundary of imagination and the reality of Ryou. He had sharp fangs, and big hands that Ryou just wanted to hold with his own. And soon, as more descriptions of the daydreamed boy were filled, Ryou's heart became warmer, and he began to smile.
"Ryou!" a faint echoing voice called. Weird, it was coming out of the boys mouth but it didn't sound like the voice belonged to him. "Ryou!" it called again. This time, a bit louder and clearer. Ryou scratched his head, pondering who could be calling his name. "RYOU!" they yelled. Ryou finally opened his eyes, and was welcomed to reality by his brother, and sadly not the boy he was dreaming of. "You're finally awake. Thank bloody Zorc, because you were starting to creep people out, just standing and smiling with your eyes closed. What were you even thinking about?" Ryou's mouth opened to tell Bakura the true answer, but he then stopped himself with the thought of,

"Wait. Telling him that it was a random boy would give the wrong impression..."

Ryou opened his mouth again, and this time words came out. "A random girl.. she was very pretty." he stammered. Bakura raised a brow. "Really? Describe her." He spat in obvious disbelief. "Blonde hair!" Bakura made a hand gesture saying that there was definitely more to say if he was daydreaming for as long as he did. "Spiky... very short, and it swoops up... and his eyes.. his eyes were the most gorgeous purple color you'd ever find. They practically pierce into your soul." Bakura grinned. "So... its a he now?"
Ryou froze up. "W-What? No thats n-not what I s-" Bakura cut him off. "No no, that is precisely what I heard. You said you admired his eyes." Ryou didn't wanna speak. He felt embarrassed. He felt nauseous too. He began to overthink everything that was happening until-

"Ryou, it's fine. I'm not one to be nice, to you especially, but I'm not gonna be a hypocrite and start to be a dick to you just because you're gay. It's a bloody preference, get over yourself."

Bakura ended his statement with a harsh pat on Ryou's shoulder. Ryou stumbled over slightly, a little weak from the nausea. "Now now, now that you've come out to me, it is a given that I know who that boy is because you and I both bloody know it's not some random boy." Ryou laughed softly at Bakura's attitude. Never change. Ryou thought. Never change.
Even if the situation was currently light, Ryou didn't wanna tell him it was Marikuu. For multiple reasons, but the number one two reasons were,

1. Ryou just met him, he doesn't truly know if its love.
2. Let's just simply say that Marikuu and Bakura don't get along very well..

Was Ryou gonna tell him? Of course he was, it makes the plot thicken.

If it was anyone else, Ryou would've made him beg. But this was Bakura, and even if they were born 20 minutes apart, Bakura was still physically bigger. "Okay, okay, fine. But you have to promise." Bakura looked puzzled. "Promise you what?" "Promise me you won't get mad or embarrass me." Bakura sighed, rolled his red eyes and looked back at his small brother. "Promise. Now bloody tell me!" Ryou closed his eyes, and took calm deep breaths. Inhale, exhale. Inhale, exhale. Inhale, exhale. His chest went up and down with his breathing. Ryou looked at his brother, and opened his mouth to say the words. Eventually, they came out.

"Marikuu. Marikuu is the boy I dreamt of. Marikuu is the boy with the eyes that I admire."

Bakura stared at him in awe. Disgust? Shock? Horror? Only Ra and Zorc knew. Bakura backed up slightly, and held his head with his hand. Pondering what to say. He looked back at Ryou. "Marikuu?" He laughed, visibly upset. "The guy that would kill people like you? The same guy who hurts Marik? The same guy who'd suffocate me whenever he gets the chance?" Ryou was silent. And it only made Bakura angrier. "You're bloody kidding right?" Ryou shook his head, still silent as a mouse. Bakura sighed in annoyance. "I can't have one happy moment with you. One happy moment turns into an angry moment, and then it turns into something where you dissociate yourself from me for bloody weeks even though I live with you." Ryou tried to breathe calmly and deeply, trying to swallow the lump in his throat. He had hot tears in his eyes but he couldn't let Bakura see that. Bakura took a deep breath to calm himself, and then raised up Ryou's chin.

"Look at me."
And indeed, Ryou looked. Forcefully, maybe, but looked.

"I wanna try and avoid that. You've just admitted to two things you thought you never would've told me, and the last thing you need is for me to scream at you like you're stupid. I'm just bloody worried. Marikuu is probably the worst guy you could go for, and I'm dating Marik for crying out loud. He could hurt us, and he could certainly hurt you." Ryou nodded, wiping his tears. And at the worst time, Marik began to walk over to the two. "BAKURA, THE GIRLS FLOODED THE TOILETS WITH TOILET PAPER AGA-" He was cut off when he looked closely at the two. "Mother of Ra did I come at the wrong time?" Bakura looked over to the blonde. "No, Ryou just told me th-" Ryou tugged Bakura to look at him. Please, don't tell Marik. I wanna tell him. Bakura sighed, and nodded. He looked back. "We just finished a conversation. The girls bloody what?"

Home. The one place Ryou felt where he truly belonged. Or, more specifically, his bedroom. He was plopped onto his bed, still in uniform, and still having a bag full of homework. Bakura wasn't home yet, not that he was in detention or anything along those lines but moreover was just with Marik at the time being. As far as Ryou was concerned, he'd be back home by around 8 PM. Ryou sighed and put his hands over his eyes. He was exhausted, and Ra what he'd do if it meant to get rid of his homework.
BEEP!
Ryou nudged over to check his phone. Maybe it was Bakura? He checked the notification, tapped, and went to see the text.

"hey didn't really get to see ur nerd ass 2day. r u just a tiny ghost or were u avoiding me?"

Ryou laughed softly, as his heart warmed. Even tired Ryou could love the little things about an asshole named Marikuu. He started to type.

"tiny ghost. impossible to ignore you when your the biggest hit in school."

Ryou awaited his response. He could tell Marikuu really thought about what he wanted to say.

"did fluff-butt just compliment me?"

Ryou felt hotness and redness come to his face, but he began to type again nonetheless.

"maybe I did. don't let it get to your head too much!"

Ryou could only imagine Marikuu's laughter. He loved the way Marikuu laughed, sometimes it was gruff and genuine, and other times it was soft and sarcastic. Ryou adored both of them, and would honestly give them the titles of being the best sounds of the world.

"ra u r so weird. anyway, do u wanna hang again 2day? u can pick the place, i rlly wouldn't care"

Ryou looked over to his bag. He had work to do, but in all honesty, he'd rather shit out a building than do his work. Work, or Marikuu? Ryou looked over to his phone and began to type again.

"alright. how does the bookstore near me sound?"
