As usual, class 1a was buzzing with chatter before the bell rang and Aizawa scared all of the teens into silence.
"Toriiii, you should come to the arcade with me after school." A bubbly straw blonde said to his classmate.
"Nuh-uh. Last time I agreed to that you would shock me whenever I was about to win." Tori playfully crossed her arms at Denki Kaminari, her electrical classmate she'd been friends with since middle school.
"Fine, no arcade. But come on we should hang out we haven't in like, forever."
It was true, the past two months since that first day she went over to Shinso's house Tori had been going there practically every day. It just sort of became a natural thing. Her father had been working later than usual a lot, and Tori wasn't overly fond of being home alone. Not to mention Mihoko's cooking was to die for. Her and Shinso never even said anything about it, the every day hangouts going as an unspoken thing.
"Sorry Denki, I promise I'll make time for us to hangout soon." The blue haired girl sent him a sweet smile, which made Denki cave instantly.
"I'll hold you to it Tori!" He flashed her a smile.
The school day flew by, and before Tori could escape the classroom, a gruff voice called her back.
"Tori, come here please." Aizawa said.
Tori turned and walked over to his desk, a pleasant smile on her face.
"Are you off to your friends house again?" He asked.
Tori nodded.
"You aren't...dating this Shinso boy are you?" Aizawa asked.
Tori slapped her hands to cover her red cheeks before waving her hands out in front of her. "Oh my gosh! Dad, no! Why would you think that?"
Right, Dad.
Aizawa sighed. "Just checking. Making sure I don't need to give him a talking to."
"Daaaad seriously, we're just friends." Tori pleaded.
"Then you should bring him over sometime, you are always at his place." The ravenette suggested.
"Shinso doesn't know that you're my dad." Tori said.
"Are you that embarrassed of me?" Aizawa asked mockingly.
"No no no! Dad, I love you. People just tend to act weird when your dad is a pro hero, and a teacher at our school." Tori turned to leave. "Now, I really do have to go I'm sure Shinso is waiting for me."
"Fine fine, but I expect you to invite him to dinner, and be on time."
"Wha- tonight?" Tori asked.
"Tonight."
Tori made her way out of the school, finding Shinso waiting at the gates for her.
"Geez, took you long enough. You get lost in the halls or something?"
"Har har, very funny. And no. Can I ask you about something?" Tori asked as they began the usual walk to Shinso's house.
The boy tensed. "Uh, yeah sure."
"You know Eraser Head?" Tori asked.
"Y-you're asking me about your teacher?" Shinso asked.
Tori nodded. "Yeah, what do you think of him?"
Shinso looked at the ground, a small smile on his face. "I've actually always admired him, he's my favorite hero." He groaned. "It just sucks that being covered in coffee was his first impression of me."
"Well, second impressions are more important anyways. You can redeem yourself at dinner tonight." Tori stated casually.
"W-what? What do you mean at dinner tonight?" Shinso asked.
"Eraser, he wants you over for dinner tonight." Tori said.
"Why, what, how-"
"He's my dad." Tori cut him off. "Eraser, that is."
Shinso blinked. "Eraser Head is your dad?"
Trying to ignore the sheer shock and giddiness rising in him, Shinso tried to put together any similarities he could between the two. They looked nothing alike, Aizawa was very mellow and apathetic, while Tori was a bubbly ray of sunshine. The only similarity he could pinpoint was that they both shared an incredible work ethic.
"Yeah, I'm adopted, though." Tori explained, nervously twiddling her thumbs.
Oh, now it makes sense. Shinso thought.
"Oh, Tori I-"
"Hey don't. It's not really sad or anything, I've been with Aizawa since I was a baby. He's all I've ever known so there's no tragedy involved." She said with a warm smile.
Shinso tilted his head, baffled once again by this girl. He decided changing the subject would be best. "So why does Aizawa want me over for dinner?"
"Oh, just because I've been spending so much time at your house he wanted to meet you formally." Tori explained, purposely leaving out the part where her father accused her and Shinso of dating.
Shinso gulped, trying to maintain his aloof expression. What should he wear? How should he act? What if his favorite hero ended up hating him?
"Don't stress it, Shinso, my dad is super chill." Tori reassured him, patting his shoulder.
Shinso blinked, was it that obvious he was worried?
Or did she just know him well enough to read him that easily?
Later that night, Shinso stood next to Tori at the door to her house, wearing black jeans and a grey sweatshirt, halting nervously before entering the threshold.
Tori, who already stepped inside, still in her school uniform, turned around when she noticed Shinso was no longer next to her.
She giggled. "Come on, silly. You have nothing to be worried about."
They entered the house together, walking into the living room, there was no Aizawa in sight.
"Dad! We're here! Where you at? Oh-" Tori stopped, when she looked at the living room floor to see her father in his yellow sleeping bag, asleep on the floor.
She smirked at Shinso, gesturing to Aizawa. "Behold, the terrifyingly intimidating Eraser Head, in his yellow caterpillar bag."
"Really?" Shinso sent her a slight glare, trying to not laugh at her antics he had grown so fond of.
"Take a picture it'll last longer," a grumbly voice said.
Aizawa stood up, emerging from his sleeping bag.
"Gooood morning sleepy head!" Tori beamed. "Hah, that's kind of funny, sleepy head, Eraser Head, you get it? It's-"
"So you're the boy my daughter has been spending all of her time with." Aizawa said, talking over his daughters insane ramblings of whatever she thought humor was.
Shinso tried to stay calm, but it was different talking to Eraser this close, and at his home no less.
"Y-yes sir. I'm Shinso Hitoshi, it's a pleasure to meet you." Shinso internally cringed at the fact that he stuttered, and a pleasure? What was he thinking!?
To his surprise, Aizawa chuckled lightly and patted Shinso on the shoulder. "No need to be nervous kid, now who's ready to eat? I got takeout."
"Ooo! Me! I am!" Tori exclaimed.
Aizawa sighed. "When are you not."
Dinner was pretty similar to how Shinso and Tori's dinners were alone.
Tori would talk about anything and everything, while Shinso added the occasional input but listened silently. The only difference was Aizawa was there, doing the same thing Shinso did.
Shinso wondered if that's why Tori liked being his friend so much, because he was rather similar to Aizawa, or at least he would like to think so.
"So dad, I was wondering something..." Tori trailed off.
"Yes, Tori?" Aizawa asked.
"Is Shinso like your secret love child or something?"
