ALEXISTen years later: Age 26
I lean my head against Damien's. My fiancé. He smiles down at me, snuggling into my body. "I can't wait to get married," he said in his half-asleep voice. I turned around and placed my hands on his jaw, slowly stroking up and down.
"I can't wait to get married either," I confessed, placing a kiss on his jaw. "Let's go to Vegas and get married tonight," he said, his eyes brightening up with joy. I shook my head laughing, "My brothers will decapitate you." Damien shrugged beneath me, "as long as we're married."
"We need to get up," I said breaking the comfortable silence. "Mhm, no thanks." I rolled over and pushed him off myself. "We have that meeting with the Board today, then we have to go check on wedding preparations for the day after," I reminded him, getting up and stretching.
When I turned back to look at him, his head was propped up on his hand and he was grinning. "You look positively radiant in my clothes," I looked down at Damien's shirt that hung loosely on my frame and then at Damien, "and you look gorgeous without," I replied cheekily moving into the walk in closet. His laughter rang throughout the house and I smiled in content.
"Can I have my morning kiss?" I set my clothes aside and moved to Damien who leaned against the door frame. "Nope," I said, stalking to the bathroom. "No worries, you won't be able to resist this for long," he said gesturing to his frame.
"Is that a challenge Mr. García?" I asked, moving forward instead. "Maybe," he whispered down to me. "We'll see," I declared, stepping away from him and into the bathroom.
This man will be the death of me.
_______
"We will send the signed documents over to you by Friday," I said, clutching Damien's hand under the table. The board members had accepted our proposal. "Thankyou Mr. Yen," Damien and I said, getting up and shaking his and other board member's hands.
Once we were in our joint office, I spun around and bought Damien's lips down to my level. "You're tiny," he muttered against my lips, picking me up as I wrapped my legs around his waist.
"Shut up," I retorted, pushing him into the wall. "Feisty. I love it," he said pulling apart. "I love you," I replied, smiling at him. "And I you,"
"This is certainly not what I expected," I quickly scrambled off Damien, who was too smug for a dead man walking. "Oh, hi Ace." I said, straightening my clothes. "Hello Alexis. I hope I'm not becoming a uncle again anytime soon." My lips thinned into a straight line as Dame shook with silent laughter.
"I hope not, it would be a shame for the baby to grow without a father," I said looking pointedly at Damien. That shut him up. "As fun as this has been, I'm only here to drop these off," Ace replied handing me some files. "Aiden and I have some errands to run." I fake-gagged. "WE don't want to hear about it," I said pushing him out of the office.
"Don't forget to use a condom," He hollered back, gaining us weird looks from the employees. "I almost forgot I love your brother," Damien said as we moved outside with our coats. Both Damien and I had agreed on a Winter wedding. We have to take a field trip to the venue today, check the cake and then I will spend tomorrow with my sisters and Max.
"I won't see you at all tomorrow, will I?" Damien asked, entwining his free hand with me. "No, but you'll see me the day after." I said as he pulled outside the castle. Out of the three final venues, both Dame and I loved this location the most. It was untouched by, yet in touch with nature and had the perfect view.
"Do you remember when we were kids, we got fake married once?" I nodded, "Twice. I divorced you the first time because you ate my skittles." Damien laughed and pulled me to his side, "I hope you don't divorce me again, I promise not to eat all the skittles."
"I wouldn't dream of it," I whispered back. "C'mon, let's get this over with." He tugged me along, looking around the place in awe. When we reached the main entrance, Dame looked back at me with tears in his eyes.
I guided him to a room inside, and settled on the bed. "What's wrong?" I asked, wiping away his tears with my thumbs. "I didn't have any hope Allie. For a long time I thought you'd leave me, for someone better, someone who is reliable and you didn't. You've been there for me, Always."
"I'm not leaving you. You are the one person I can always rely on. You've been there for the most important moments of my life and you bring out the best in me. You're my rock Dame. Its always been us." I said. "I like the sound of that," he said embracing me. I straddled his torso and rubbed comforting circles on his back.
"Let's go," he suddenly said, cheering and picking me up bridal style. I complied and let him carry me. We met Barbara at the front entrance who was planning our entire wedding. She's been a tremendous help, her fake smiles is what I don't like.
"Mr. García and Ms. Di Angelo! I'm so glad you could make it," she exclaimed looking down at Damien's arms and then at me with disgust and jealousy?
"Dame put me down," I said after greeting Barbara who was standing there, just staring. "I will do no such thing, deal with it," he said, tightening his hold on me. Barbara laughed her customer service laugh and walked away, telling us to follow her.
"Will the priest say your middle name during the ceremony?" I asked, leaning against his muscled chest. "Fuck no." Damien spat, still following Barbara for our 'special surprise.'
"I don't think that's how it works Damien Dorothea García," I said emphasising on his middle name. He groaned in response and threatened to throw me in the lake we passed by.
"Here we are then," Barbara declared as we came to a stop at the courtyard. I almost gasped looking at the ice sculptures. "They're beautiful," I murmured to Damien, loud enough for Barbara to hear as well. He nodded behind me, face splitting in a beautiful smile.
"I'm so glad you love it," Barbara said, instructing some people to move the scupltures inside. "We do, Thankyou so much for your help," I said, leaning in for a hug as Damien finally set me down.
Squeezing her once, I stepped back. "Don't worry about it, I'm glad you like it." Giving her one last smile, Damien led us out of the venue and into the parking lot.
"I'm driving," I said pulling the keys out of his pocket. He shrugged and opened the door to the passenger seat. Turning the car on, I drove out of there.
Damien plugged his phone to the car and put our playlist on shuffle. "Didn't you sing this in your second grade talent show?" I nodded laughing, once more singing along to the song.
Damien joined me, singing along to the songs. By the time we reached the bakery, both of us were laughing like maniacs. Damien got out first and opened the door for me. As he walked infront, our hands interwined, my eyes fell onto the scar on his neck.
Tears brimmed my eyes as I hastily wiped them away. I'm so proud of him. "Allie! Why are you crying?" He asked, turning back to me. I shook my head, burying my face in his chest. "Nothing," I said, but I came out muffled.
"How about we have some Icecream, yeah? Our appointment isn't for another half hour." I nodded and let him drag me to the Icecream parlour beside the bakery.
Walking up to the counter, he ordered for us. "Thankyou," he said tipping the teenager standing behind the counter. I smiled before we settled in a corner booth.
"Hermosa, talk to me, please?" He begged, pouting. I smiled and gave him a peck, reaching out to slowly trace his scars. A constant reminder. "It was ten years ago sweetheart, don't let it upset you," he said once more pulling me into an embrace.
"Here's your Icecream," someone said from behind us. Damien smiled and took the tray, setting it down onto the table, thanking the waiter.
We dug into the Icecream and talked about anything and everything. He's my person.
