A/n: a looot of character to character dialogue ahead. Please let me know if it's hard to read, I didn't put a lot of indicators as to who's speaking. I didn't want to get stuck in a loop of "he said this" "she says that" because I feel like that's obnoxious.

You all filter into the tavern with the exception of a few, but all the sins are present, going about their business chatting with others.

Diane skips over to you in her shrunken form. "Hey Y/n!" She hands you one of the two drinks she has. "Here."

"Sup Dia? Oh thanks."

"Well I was just wondering what you were up to in those days you were gone? I hope you weren't too worked up over the illusion." She notices as your eyes dull at the memories of those few dark days. "We we're all worried about you."

She adds and this snaps you out of the momentary daze. "Oh yeah I was fine!"

She pouts lightly not really believing you. "Are you really sure?"

"Yup, don't worry Dia."

Gowther interjects saving you from Diane's prying. "Y/n may I ask you a question."

"Go ahead." Sensing she isn't getting any further on this topic Diane walks away.

"No one has been able to give me a straight answer and it always changes but, what is love?" Gowther asks now having your attention fully.

You smile lightly. "Well I can see why that would change depending on who you ask." He gives you a questioning look. "Well the word love means different things to different people. It also changes depending on what kind of love you mean, platonic or romantic love?"

"There's a difference?"

"Well yeah, with a romantic partner you'd treat them differently then you would family or a friend. But as a whole it's the need to protect that's most consistent, for me at least, when I love someone I want the best for them."

"I seem to understand romantic love the least, can you elaborate there?"

"Ok, well that kind of love is like a fire in your stomach this person fuels you, drives you toward something. Love drives you to accomplish the impossible, like how Ban wishes to defy death."

"But he already does that, being Immortal."

"Yeah but what's the use of immortality if there's no one to share it with?" An absent smile finds its way onto your face as you speak with Gowther.

"Then why don't you and Ban engage in a relationship if being alone is what bothers you."

"We don't feel that way for each other, the love we have for each other it's more platonic, like siblings." You occupy your hands with the drink you'd been handed earlier.

A few moments pass in silence before Gowther stars a new conversation. "Y/n can I ask you another question."

"Shoot." You take a sip as he's talking.

"Does one show their love to someone by fondling them." The question almost makes you spit up your drink at how innocently he asked that question.

"N-no! Jeez Gowther who gave you that idea." You ask between coughs.

"The captain, he loves Elizabeth very much to the point of making some very irrational choices. So, I was just wondering."

"Em, well in their case yes. But, well... everyone shows their love differently, y'know according to their love language."
