Chapter ten || Not quite alone

Your leg still aches from the other day. 'Damn that fucking bird.' With a deep exhale you look at the town in front of you then up toward the sky.

"Well Leonis is that way, you should probably skip the closest town to us, that place is crawling with no good thieves."

"Looks like I'm gonna have to spend the night here." You make your way into the shitty town rampant with crime and poverty. "This place is a fucking dump."

Someone grips your shoulders firmly. "Well you say that but it ain't too far off from where we started."

You almost jump out of your skin as you spin kicking the legs out from under your perpetrator. "Ban? What the hell!"

"Not my fault you weren't payin' attention! you should know better around a place like this." He rubs his ass having landed on it funny. "Ugh I don't know weather your reflexes are good or bad."

The longer you stand here with him the more you can feel the shame crawl up your spine. "What ever, look I gotta go-" you plan on walking away but he catches your wrist.

"So, where are the rest of the sins? Congrats by the way, heard about your premonition."

A stab of guilt runs straight through your heart. "Let me go."

"What did you not accept? I mean I wouldn't blame you."

"Ban, let me go." You speak low and slow.

"What's up." He obviously knows somethings wrong, you may be an asshole but you've never been down right hostile.

You swallow the burning in the back of your throat. "They're dead." You whisper tears threatening to fall.

"Eh?"

"We, we're in Camelot, and- I." You have to pause as your voice is getting uncomfortably teary. "I was in the tavern after we fought this stone construct made by the demon race."

"There was one of those at the fairy kings forest as well." He intersects.

"Like I was saying, I stayed back in the tavern while they went to talk to King Arthur. I only noticed too late that they'd been fighting someone, one of the Ten Commandments... when I got there, they were all, dead."

"It's getting late out you should get a room."

You look up at him angrily. "Why aren't you more upset by this! I told you they died, your friends are dead!"

"Because I don't believe you."

You make an aghast noise. "What? Do you think I'm lying?"

"No, I think you think you're telling the truth but I find it hard to believe some rando just came along at took all of them out. I mean, Diane, the Captain, Merlin and Gowther? No way."

"Gowther, was out of commission at the time." You at still fighting back the incoming tears.

"Doesn't matter. You said you flew off right after you seen em right? Didn't stick around to see any of em get up?"

"I know what I seen Ban!" You yell causing everyone around the two of you to stop and stare. But it's too late to turn back now, the hot tears streak paths down your face as you glare up at him.

"Alright, alright. We'll discuss this more later, just go get yourself a hotel room, it's getting late." He reaches a hand up to your face and you pull away.
