She had taken you to her home after the ordeal in what you had learned was a court room. "I'm sure you have many questions, I'm prepared to answer them."

"Well I have a good idea on who you people are already, so I would like a better explanation as to why I'm on trial in the first place."

"The Chancellor decided having a fiend on earth is too dangerous."

"A fiend?"

"A phoenix kin without a heart."

"We have sensed you before, both when you obtained the power and every major fight after. But when your heart was crushed you became somewhat akin to a ticking time bomb. Every time you regenerate when your core is in this state it has a chance of exploding, and every time you mault that chance gets bigger."

"I see, he said my continued existence would expose you all. How is that?"

"Well, he fears your core could be traced back to us, a completely unfounded fear in my eyes. As the only way that would be possible is if someone who was already familiar with phoenix magic could sense it lingering in the air from one of our assassins and follow it through a dimensional rift back to here."

"Ah, if that's the case then they are likely already on their way."

"Huh?" A crash sounds in the distance and she meets your eyes. "What was that?!"

"We should go out to meet them before they cause too much mayhem." You stand swiftly and exit the home, assuming your host is close behind.

When you make it back to the court house you see the "chancellor" from before on the ground before your friends, a hand over his bloodied nose. "There! There she is! I told you she was safe!"

They turn to you and Gowther almost knocks you over with the force in which he throws himself at you. "You're safe! I'm so sorry I let them take you!"

"It's alright Gowther, I'm ok."

"So they didn't try to hurt you?"

"Oh no, the did try to have me executed but-" you turn to your host. "Apologies, I don't think I got your name."

"Uh- Tana..."

"Yes, Tana spoke up for me so now I get a trial."

Ban jumps in. "Tch, like hell that's happening, let's get outta here."

"Actually I would like to stay."

"What!?" Diane falls to her knees to be face to face with you. "Why!"

"Well, I'm sure Merlin knows but. They're like me, they call themselves phoenix kin."

"Don't you dare compare yourself to us ash maker!"

Tana glares at him. "Chancellor Vellgrean that is quite enough!"

You ignore them. "I think I might be able to find a way to restore my heart here."

Merlin steps in. "Yes I was thinking the same, and if we have to go through this trial perhaps they would forfeit this information willingly."

"I would like not to cause them too much trouble, if it can be avoided." You add.

King sets his feet down and looks in thought. "Wait, you said they tried to execute you? If they're like you wouldn't they know that you're immortal?"

Tana steps in. "Well, not entirely. There is still a few ways she can die."

Merlin raises an eyebrow. "Really, pray tell?"

"Our history is none of your business!"

Ignoring him again Tana elaborates. "Back when we walked earth like giant folk or humans there was a purge, people were starting to see our potential, one we had yet to unlock. We were like Y/n is now. For years we were persecuted by the thousands, experimented on as they tried to harness our untapped potential. When they couldn't, they wanted to eradicate us before we could use it against them. They used a crystal harvested from deep underground, if just a sliver of it got stuck under a humans skin they would freeze solid instantly. They used those of us who were already in captivity to harvest it. They made the crystals into arrow tips that they'd use to hunt us down. But they were too late."
