„Clara!" Chris yelled out and ran towards me, dropping down to his knees next to me.
„I'm fine," I said and smiled at him, but in reality my head was spinning and I felt more sick each second.
Chris took off his backpack and began rummaging through it, then pulled out a first aid kid and opened it.
„Can I.. look at the wound?" Chris asked. It took me a moment to realize why he was asking, but I quickly nodded and turned around, lifting my shirt carefully to show him the wound on my back. I winced in pain as I was lifting the shirt up, and continued groaning in pain as the wind blew at the open wound.
Chris walked closer to me and began treating the wound with things from the first aid kit.
„I'm sorry, it'll hurt. You know the gist," Chris said in an annoyed tone, trying to cheer me up. And it worked. I smiled and nodded, „Yes, of course."
And after what felt like an endless cycle of constant pain for everything around me, Chris finally began bandaging up the wound. I helped him wrap it at the front, while he did it at the back.
„Okay, here we go," Chris said and helped me stand up, then handed me a bottle of water.
„If you feel tired, you can just rest here and I'll take care of the last creature."
„Thank you, Chris, but I don't want to leave you alone in this. I'll help you," I replied and smiled at him, then took a sip from the water bottle.
Before Chris was able to object, we heard the sound of the very last statue. Playing beautiful, peaceful music, as always. The rest of the statues were already completely destroyed, as we killed all the other creatures. Now the only one that remained was this statue. Statue number 01.
Chris swiftly turned around to look for the creature. As soon as he turned around, he saw the creature right behind him. It swung its arms to the back and pushed both of our guns away from us. Then, it grabbed both guns, one in each hand, and its annoying smile slowly crept up its face.
„Oh fuck," Chris mumbled and quickly turned to look back at me, „run!"
As soon as Chris said that, I began running. I didn't know where I was going, but I was just going somewhere. Somewhere away from the creature.
It had our guns.
And it's probably gonna shoot.
Chris got in front of me and grabbed my hand, then began leading me through the trees. We ran in a zig-zag pattern so the creature had a harder time aiming at us. I turned my head and looked behind me at the creature, trying to see what it was doing.
The creature seemed pretty confused and it didn't look like it knew how to even use a gun properly, but it was clear that it'll use it either.
It tried holding the guns as we held them before, but due to its extremely sharp fingers, it wasn't going well. It aimed the guns at us and began shooting. One bullet after the other. There was no mercy in those shots. It wanted us gone. It wanted to kill us.
We swiftly ran through the trees, trying to avoid all the bullets. One of the bullets hit a tree next to us, then the other hit a tree that was further in the distance. Its aim thankfully wasn't great, but it could still easily shoot us if we wouldn't run.
When the creature shot through the rifle, I jumped and let out a scream. The bullet hit the ground right next to me.
„Are you okay?!" Chris asked and quickly turned around to look at me. I nodded and grabbed his hand more tightly.
Chris continued running through the forest and the creature followed us, enjoying its two new weapons. More shots kept coming towards us and there was nothing we could do.
Eventually, it finally stopped. The creature looked at the two guns, confused. It was out of bullets.
„Do you still have the knives?" Chris asked and I nodded, handing him the knife from my pocket. I then took off my backpack and searched for the rest of the knives, while Chris began running towards the creature.
It was ready to defend itself and hit him with its hands, but what the creature did not realize was that you can throw knives.
Chris raised the knife above him and threw it at the creature, aiming for the eye. The knife got stuck right next to its eye.
It let out a loud scream, as usual. But this time, it swiftly made its way to Chris. Once it was near him, it grabbed his neck with both of its arms and began choking him.
