26: I'm...Coming...Out

"Ma I'm fine." I said leaning my cheek into my palm.

Looking at me from over the pot of gumbo she stirred it, "No, I saw how him being there effected you baby and it scared me."

"I'm fine and it's over which is good, I just want to leave it all behind me." I sighed looking down at my nails, I had been rating's gold for Junie and I didn't even get as much of a thank you for my little PSA, but that didn't matter because I was just happy that I got it out to the world that I didn't gave a damn what they thought of me anymore.

"I have to admit I was proud of you for cussing that bitch out." My mother muttered walking over to the cabinet and grabbing a bowl.

Pouring some of the goodness into a bowl I took it gratefully, looking out I saw that rain met my vision which meant that Emilio was running in the rain...again. His fight was less than two months away and everyone wanted to see the fighter who became the face of NIKE overnight, just by the flick of the wrist and a fat stack of cash being slid towards him.

"Yeah it was very long overdue," Pointing at the bouquet of roses I laugh, "Don't you see the roses I got from Naomi."

Looking at them she let out a boisterous laugh and shook her head, "I thought that was from Emilio." Our laughs went from boisterous to chuckles and finally soft smiles, leaning on the table she secured a strand of hair behind my ear and smoothed my face, "I'm happy to see you happy baby."

"I know mom." Looking down at the bowl I stirred the soup for a minute, "He makes me really happy ma...I'm just really happy."

"Are you willing to take a backseat to the fame, I mean you always said you wanted to be the most famous in the world baby." My mother said cocking her head to the side.

Bobbing my head I maintained my earlier defense, "Yep, I'm ready to take a backseat to it all, I just want to focus on my craft."

"I didn't think I was going to see the day where you finally decided to slow down." She jested before giggling, "I'm proud of you and I have always been proud of you." Hearing her ringtone come from her phone she picked it up immediately when she saw who it was, "Samuel?" Pausing for a minute I raised an eyebrow and she shrugged and then her eyes widened, "Y-you're back—for good?" A smile came across her face and then smile came across my face, Samuel did give her the love her other four husbands could never give her, "I was just over at Majesty's and Emilio's home—I'm on my way—" Pausing again she pulled the phone away from her ear she told me, "Samuel says hi to the both of you."

"Ok well give me fifteen minutes." Laughing she fiddled with her hands like a little girl, "I love you too." Hanging up she jumped up and down appearing at least twenty-years younger than her age, "He's retiring, he's retiring." Giggling at her antics, she came over the counter, hugged me and gave me a kiss on the head, "I love you baby."

"I love you too ma." I smiled watching her damn near skip out of the kitchen.

Hearing the door shut behind her I slid off of my stool and walked over to the stove and turned it off and placed my bowl in the refrigerator. Seeing my phone light up from a notification I was diverted from the notification to look at my background photo, it was of Emilio and I in Colombia at the tour turned neighborhood party. I have to admit Cataleya, and Rosalie knew how to take a damn photo, I ended up posting the picture on my Instagram after my whole little meltdown on live television, and to say the social media ate it up was an understatement. The photo had retained over a million likes in the first week from people who didn't think I had the balls to post a picture of us to the public.
