December 24th 1942, luckily my best pal Sargent James Barnes was told he could come home for the holiday. Boy did I miss James, I've been so lonely for the past 3 years since my last family member died. My sister passed away a couple years ago, she lost her battle to the scarlet fever. I hoped and prayed for her to get better, James was always there for us.

Lots of rest for the big day! I woke up to the snow falling and the rattling trains. Most people moved out of this town because of the trains, to me I feel at home to the sound of he train tracks and the red and green decorations that fall upon these wonderful white winters! Soft, warm slippers touched my feet, the whistle of the tea kettle faintly in my ear. I throw on my hat, boots and coat to avoid getting sick in this cold weather!

Rushing to the train, I squeeze through all the people. I look up for the brunette with the dazzling blue eyes! "Sargent Barnes how lovely to see you on this pleasant morning!" I cheered. "Maria! Nice hat my fine friend!" Exclaimed James. "Oh why thank you, but I believe it belongs to you!" I place the hat gently and playfully cover his eyes. "Oh yeah Maria real funny," he picks me up and spins me around. I feel his soft cold hands on mine. "Bucky I missed you so much!" I give him a really tight hug. I feel him place his head on mine, "Let's go the cafe isn't going to be open all day!" he grabs my hand and we run down the line of people onto the sidewalk.

At last, we made it to the cafe! "So Bucky when do I get to meet this Steve friend of your's?" If I haven't explained Bucky is what a lot of people call him if they know him well. "You will actually meet him a little later on today with my family." He says softly. We share a few laughs and order hot coco to keep us warm! "So... how is the war going?" I ask unenthusiastic. "Maria, I told you don't worry about it I'm going to be okay." I give him a look and nudge his shoulder. "Okay fine! Now drink up we have to be somewhere soon," I give a little smirk. "Maria where are we going?" He asks. "You'll see!" I exclaim.
