The Day Lin Gave Up

Flip: "Okay, author's note. Double upload day, because we're inspired for once. Okay, uh... where's the other guy...?"

Me: (Listening to Deltarune OST because it's great and I love it)

Flip: "(Dramatic sigh) Give me that."

(Flip steals the headphones)

Me: "WAIT NO THAT WAS THE BEST PART!"

(Flip destroys the headphones)

Me: "NOOOOOO"

Flip: "Now work on the story."

Me: "ehaipfaeifpaisseidfjadcneuiahjfeiwmndxFINE."

JADE POV

I don't understand what happened.

I'm not mad at Lin - even I'm embarrassed by me - but she still avoids me. Riolu Girl seemed to disappear after that too, and as far as I can tell, she just... left.

Wesley isn't there either, but he's probably doing whatever he can to get Lin to talk to him. Or anyone, at this point.

Did I mention that Lin isn't talking?

Whatever Riolu Girl did, it messed up Lin. So Lin won't talk to anyone and everything's a mess.

Meanwhile, I'm doing the same thing I do every day, which is not much besides school.

I haven't seen anyone I know for a week.

And that's how I know something's wrong.

LIN POV

Once upon a time, I lost my best friend.

And then another upon a time, I lost every other friend I had.

And then another another upon a time, I felt really alone and had nothing to do and I was bored.

But mostly, I felt really alone.

Jacob is nowhere, Wes is nowhere, Jade is... not on speaking terms with me, and Lucy is... I could say a lot of things about Lucy, but let's just leave it at "I hate her."

I know that I can be a little sensitive at times, but I'M NOT THE SENSITIVE ONE!

I'm supposed to be the one who won't shut up! The hyperactive one! The fun one! Why can't everything just be the way it's supposed to be?

WES POV

"I have the perfect plan!"

"Uh-"

"It's simple; all you have to do is stand by on the side and pretend like you're dying or something, and then I'll pretend to save you, and then we'll have some romantic moment, and then Lin will get jealous, and she will fall in love with me! It's PERFECT!"

"You're weird."

"NO WAIT DON'T LEAVE-"

And they left.

In case you were wondering, that was the 21st person to reject my perfect plan idea. Don't ask why I've tried 21 people; I'm committed, don't judge. AND FOR THE RECORD, my plan IS perfect! There's absolutely nothing wrong with this plan whatsoever and no unforeseen consequences will arise from it!

And there's Lin now! Now I just need to find someone stupid enough to actually go along with my plan.

LUCY POV

Things aren't better.

Things won't get better for a while.

And right now, it's seeming like they never will.

But things have happened in the past.

And those things got better.

So why can't this argument end already?

I get it; I was wrong.

So, can't we move on?

...

Okay, done writing my speech that I'm going to give to Lin in an attempt to make everything better.

Not sure how I managed to do that between classes, but whatever.

Next class I have is Science, the only one I have with, uh... Jade.

I'm not sure if I'm on speaking terms with Jade. He doesn't really talk much anyway, so he's never really on speaking terms with anyone, but... whatever, you know what I mean.

As I walk into the classroom, I can hear the teacher telling us to sit down for an important announcement.

"Okay, class! Today we have a new student! They're in the hall right now, and they'll walk in for more dramatic effect! It was their idea!"

Heh. That sounds familiar.

"Now will you please step into the classroom?"

They walk into the classroom as slowly as possible, and then I can see them. A Popplio, which wouldn't be much to me normally, but this is a special case. Because this Popplio has a flower with them. A green flower.

And I only have one thought. Which I then say out loud.

"WHAT THE HECK?"
