the last chapter... little sad to be done with it sooner than expected but also i think i can do better than this in the future. for now, let's focus on finishing this story, yeah?

JADE POV
I'm not a fighter. I never was. I doubt I ever will be.
I'm not strong in any sense of the word, unless "shutting out unwanted emotions" counts.
But when I was launched out of my home, and onto the pavement, I couldn't help but feel that I had to be. I had to be strong. I had to fight.
Now, going into this, I knew two things: one, this is quite possibly the most important thing I will have to do in my life. Two, I don't know why I have to do it. But I've got semi-decent reflexes and naturally tough skin(benefits that come with the Chespin line), so it's not a total lost cause.
(Yes, it is. It is very much a total lost cause.)
I don't know any other moves, so I charge forward with Tackle, AKA Baby's First Physical Move, which was immediately countered with (what else?) Counter. Okay, so he knows Counter.
Before I even have time to question what the rest of his moveset could be, I manage to get hit by three consecutive Rock Smash attacks, which has to be a record or something.
There's no way he could have done that so fast by default, so he has to know Agility or something. That's three out of four, and I don't think I want to know what the fourth move is.
I can't win this fight, obviously, so it's time for plan B: run and hide. I turn around and look for somewhere in the nearby rubble to hide.
There isn't really anywhere except my own house, and he could just destroy that too.
Okay, plan C! Ask him some questions in an attempt to delay the inevitable.
I turn around and face him. "Why are you doing this to me?"
He scoffs. "What do you think you're doing, huh? Trying to delay the inevitable?"
Plan C is slowly falling apart.
I don't really have a decent response. "Well... yes," I manage, "but it's only because I don't know what I did wrong! I gave you the amulet, what more could you want from me?"
"What I want?"
He walks up to me slowly. And ominously.
"What I want is to see you suffer."
Whatever his goals are here, I don't understand them. "Why, though?" I ask.
"Why? Why? You do so much to hurt me, and you're asking me why I hurt you back?" He chuckles maliciously. "Well, here's why. It's because you split my family into two. It's because you managed to steal my son from me twice. It's because you've helped convince my daughter that I'll never be anything more than a CRIMINAL!"
"I-"
"IT'S BECAUSE YOU KILLED MY SON!"
I stand there, bewildered. I obviously don't remember killing anyone. I feel like I should be scared or anxious about this, but I just feel... nothing. Finally, I manage to say something.
"I... I what?"
He pauses. He stares me down menacingly, as if he's trying to tell if I'm lying. Eventually, he renders his verdict on the matter.
"You're lying."
"I- I'm not!" I sputter. "The- my aura. You- You can, uh, read it, right? Do it! You can see, you can see that I'm telling the truth!"
