~Chapter 2- War~
Lunahreim looked out on the plains that spanned between them and Dialtown. The army Ool had assembled appeared formidable; he was surprised they had mustered such a powerful force in such a short time.
Lunahreim walked alongside King Zantii, who had a menacing look on his face. He gripped the hilt of his jagged sword tightly. He insisted on wearing that ridiculous-looking horned crown on his head as well.
"If I slay the Sky Deity," Zantii asked, "Will that be enough to unlock the sword's power?"
Lunahreim nodded, "It will grant you the power of a god."
Zantii grinned wide at the thought. A black-stoned Densius, General Coal, approached them.
Coal knelt before Zantii, "My King, I'm worried about the enemy's numbers. If we were to clash with them head-on, casualties on our side may be great. Perhaps, we should wait?"
This gave the silver-eyed Zantii pause. Lunahreim couldn't have afford to have any doubt reach him.
Lunahreim knelt, feigning fealty, "My King, once you unlock the sword's true power, that'll be of no worry. You'll be able to destroy the enemy all on your own. We should continue onward."
Another wide sneer came across Zantii's face, "We'll continue then!"
Zantii's army marched forward, all in service of their King. Feral Densius carried soldiers and carriages carrying catapults. Once they drew close enough to Dialtown, they undocked the catapults and set them up in the plains.
With the command from General Coal, they began. The soldiers fired Focus Spears into the air. Spirals of light arched overhead and fell towards the enemy. Parts landed within the city, no doubt destroying whatever architecture was in there.
The same Feral Densius that had carried the catapults now were loaded onto them. With the trigger on the mechanism, these Densius were catapulted into the air at the enemy army. Many of these Densius broke apart upon impact with the enemy, but others rose and began to attack. A cruel strategy, treating the stone beasts as expendable.
Ool's army counterattacked. Their own battlements fired projectiles, and their warriors used Focus Bursts. Spirals of light shot into the air and arched down, creating craters with each impact.
Zantii's army marched forward, closing the distance and engaging Ool's army directly. Terrible screams and violence rippled through the plains, and through it all, Lunahreim and Zantii were unscathed. They walked through the battlefield without fear.
Gusts of winds passed over the battle, swirling around, picking up soldiers of Zantii's army, and scattering them about. Lunahreim looked to the source of these winds. At the southern gate of Dialtown, Ool was perched in plain sight. The Owl's eyes glowed as he commanded the gales.
Zantii cut down several in a matter of seconds and looked to Lunahreim, "Is that the Sky Deity?"
"Yes," Lunahreim uttered. A Ralosian with a spear charged at the King. When the tip hit his body, it snapped apart, and Zantii cut him down without a second thought.
Lunahreim looked at Ool... there was a clear path through the enemy army to get to him. "Zantii! Come with me!"
Lunahreim and Zantii sprinted through the enemy's ranks at staggering speeds. He expected more resistance, but everyone stepped out of their way at the sight of them. He thought it odd; it was strange to allow them to pass through undeterred.
Ool maintained his position atop the southern gate when something occurred to Lunanreim... It was too easy. They were letting them through on purpose. But why? Maybe they had some foolish notion that they could beat Zantii? As long as he held the sword, it was foolish to believe so.
...Unless.
Unless that girl Corri was there somewhere. If she was lying in wait with Ralosia's gauntlets... that could ruin everything!
Lunahreim skidded to a halt, "Zantii! Stop!"
But Zantii charged forward. Ool spread his wings and flew into the city, with the King following him inside. Lunahreim went to give chase when he felt a thud to his side that propelled him through the air. His ribs felt bruised. He landed flat on his feet, astounded at how much that had genuinely hurt.
From the battlefield emerged two familiar faces. Vos and Diva, his old students.
Diva spoke, "Hello, Lunah."
Lunahreim cast the black cloak he wore off him, "Diva, you know how I despise that nickname. As much as I'd like to talk right now, I have other pressing matters."
Vos raised his fists, "You'll have to get through us first then."
Lunahreim didn't want to hurt his students, but they left him no choice. He flourished his hands, and a burst of light exploded from them. Vos and Diva returned their own.
