I wake up the next morning in an unfamiliar bedroom when the alarm on my phone goes off for work as normal, and I realise that I'm currently laying in bed next to Tom.

He was still really upset after his confession to me last night, and he'd also been drinking so I didn't want to leave him alone like that, just incase he was tempted to carry on drinking.

I'd only intended on staying until he fell asleep, but with me being so emotionally drained myself after our long conversation, I must've drifted off next to him.

After using his en-suite bathroom to freshen myself up by splashing some water on my face and gargling some of his minty mouthwash, I go back in.

"Morning," he startles me when I walk back into the bedroom and find him sat up in bed.

"Morning Tom," I smile awkwardly, heading back over to the opposite side of the bed to grab my phone.

"So, our date last night didn't exactly go as planned, did it?"

His expression suggests that last night's revelations had just come flooding back to him now he was fully awake.

"That was some takeaway," I joke to try and ease the tension.

"Sara, if you don't want to keep seeing me after everything that happened last night, I'll understand. I won't bother you anymore".

He seems like he's already accepted defeat and that it's going to happen no matter what he says or does now.

"Tom, I used to work as a prostitute, so I don't think either of us is in any position to judge the other one when it comes to the bad decisions we've made".

"What are you saying?"

"I'm saying that maybe we need to stop waiting on forgiveness for stupid shit we did as teenagers and start forgiving ourselves instead. You were just a scared kid that did what his parents told him to do, and I was a naive girl that needed to make some money. We aren't those kids anymore".

"Maybe you're right," he sighs.

"You're a detective now. You help solve crimes and bring bad people to justice, and I'm a small business owner that's payed for her sister to go to university. We're living proof that people can change".

"So what happens now then?"

"Well, this could potentially be our fourth date if there's breakfast involved, and possibly a spare toothbrush if you have one? I've got to ring Hannah anyway because she'll be wondering where I am right about now".

He disappears into the bathroom, giving me some privacy to phone her. She answers almost straight away like she's been waiting for me to ring her.

"I'm really sorry I didn't come home last night".

"You dirty little stop out! So I take it you and Tom finally bumped uglies?"

"Hannah, that's disgusting!"

"Was he that bad?" she laughs.

"You are such a bitch, and no we didn't do anything, I just slept here".

"Are you coming into work? There's no rush because me and Gemma are both in, but that barista is coming in for an interview at eleven".

"I'll need to nip home and get a shower first, but I'll definitely be in before he gets there".

"Just don't be having sex with Tom all morning and forgetting to come in".

"Bitch!"

"Love you too sis! Bye!"
